When I goto the parks I am into the rides and entertainment and really have not been in many shops on property except the gift shop at the hotel where we stay.

My question is, is there any hidden shops, uniquely themed shops, or shops with one of a kind items that should not be missed on any DW vacation???

Just wondering. When you think about everything you did the last time you were there you start to realize everything you didnt do!

One of my personal faves is the Muppets store! I don't necessarily ever buy anything, I just love to read all of the hidden little jokes and see all of the funny props!

I love strolling through Sid Cahuenga's at the Studios - it's right inside the entrance to the park on the left-hand side. They have great one of a kind movie memoribilia that's fun to look at - I've found some reasonably priced Producers props. :)

I really like going to the Art Of Disney at Downtown Disney, not so much to buy anything...but there is alot of interesting and really cool things to see.

I stumbled upon this one store in Downtown Disney's Marketplace called Mickey Mart it's pretty much a hole in the wall store that's connected into the winnie the pooh store. I was surprised to see a bunch of items as low as $10..I was tempted to get a few Grab bags but was not so sure what to expect inside them tho. I'm hoping I'll get one on my next trip.

A cool shop just to wander through is Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney. All of the theming revolves around super-sized toys and game pieces. In one room, there is a pathway of enormous Scrabble tiles, while in another a gigantic "Game of Life" spinner spins on the celing. The outside window displays are also really imaginative. Other favorites are Sid Cahuenga's, Briar Patch near Splash Mountain, the store at Animal Kingdom Lodge and any of the Art of Disney stores.

One of my favorite shops is the Christmas store at Down Town Disney. I have made a list of everything that I would love to have from there next time we go. :)

My mother and girlfriend are both obsessed with the "Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe" in Liberty Square. Even if it's the middle of May, they always find a way to buy Christmas ornamants at that store.

we love mickeys mart. usually get a couple things there that might be from last year, like they probably have some mugs there now from 2007 for 4 for $10. we go there a couple times every trip since they're always putting out new stuff

This isn't Disney-owned, but it's located in DTD on the West Side...it's a neat little shop called Hoypoloi, and they sell unique little art pieces (relatively cheap...trust me, I'm on a tight budget!).

The West Side doesn't have too much that interests me, shopping-wise, but I always check out this store (there's a more upscale store next to it that's owned by the same company, I believe, as well).

I also love going into the glass shops that sell the Arribas Brothers merchandise (particularly the large one in DTD). They have the most stunning and unique Disney (and non-Disney) pieces in there, and the employees there are very friendly and informative (I once spent nearly 20 minutes talking to a WDW CM who worked full time at Arribas and PT in WDW....really nice guy and it was neat talking to him).

Unfortunately, I have found in the past few years that it is harder and harder to find unique merchandise throughout WDW. Formerly unique and well-themed stores are starting to sell the same exact generic stuff (which explains why you find POTC merch not only in Epcot, but in World Showcase ). There are still unique items to be found, but it's getting harder to find them.

Have fun trying!

A few stores I actually try to spend a few minutes in...

Sid Cahuenga's the Studios.
Art of Disney in DTD -- lots of neat stuff to look at, most of which is way more expensive then I'd every pay.
Mitsukoshi Store in Japan/Epcot -- great selection of Japanese stuff from an actual Department store operator.
Disney Tails at Downtown Disney -- Disney pet stuff.
The store at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (not just your run of the mill Disney stuff).

The Mitsukoshi department store in the Japan pavillion is one of the coolest stores on property. It has EVERYTHING you could imagine from Japan, and prices on many items are reasonable.

Word, Mitsukoshi is a great store! Most of the World Showcase Pavillions have at least one really interesting shop. The Yong Feng Shangdian Department Store in the China Pavillion is pretty sweet as well.

The Outlet Mall. The last couple of years I took a cab out it and now it is a spot I refuse miss. The Disney Outlet you find things half price if not more.
