"Hidden" Attractions

I just read on another thread that you can get horse and carriage rides at POFQ and Fort Wilderness ($30 per 30 minutes)! One of the things I love about WDW are these unadvertised (or under-advertised) "hidden" attractions. The things you didn't expect to find but make your vacation so much more than just thrill rides and 3-D movies. Like the Sword in the Stone ceremony or the Flag Family at Fort Wilderness Lodge - eventhough these are limited to one person/family.

Who knows some other examples? What is your favorite?

There is a great show on INHD called Undiscovered Disney that profiles several of the unknown attractions. Some of which include para-sailing on the 7 seas lagoon, the sunrise safari at AK, VIP tours, and MK fireworks from the California Grill. Two of my favorites (both discovered thanks to this site) are the "hidden Tinkerbelle" in Tinkerbelle's treasures gift shop and the "Don't pull the rope" to the left of the Indy Stunt show entrance.

At the risk of further exposing my ignorance (after overlooking the overlooked attractions page :veryconfu ) what is INHD?

Don't worry most people don't know what it is. INHD is a high definition channel that shows a lot of HD movies, documentaries and IMAX films. From my understanding is it only available on cable and not on the dish.

I always enjoy Mulch, Sweat & Shears which is a rock & roll cover band in MGM. They are NEVER on the printed schedule as the show can go down due to rain etc pretty easily as it is done outdoors with no covering for the band members or the equipment!!!! Ask for the schedule and location at Guest Relations to catch this rockin' act!!! Belle

My favourite not at all advertised attraction happens towards the end of the day at the bachelor gorilla enclosure at Animal Kingdom. Half an hour to fifteen minutes prior to closing (as a Cast Member during the day, they should be able to tell you when it is scheduled) three of the four gorillas have been trained to sit at set points (called stations). This permits the oldest gorilla to go to his sleeping quarters in peace.

The three gorillas have to sit at station in an non-threatening position. The reward for which is a edible treat or few. They rotate what is given and sometimes place them in packaging so the gorilla has to figure out how to get to it.

Once the old boy is in bed the other three are given a final treat each and are free to head off to bed. Most do, but if they have had frozen treats, one of them heads up the hill to break his ice pop on a rock.

It's a great time to snag some good photos:

Parasailing has to be one of the best things I have ever done while down there. The views were pretty amazing. I suggest it to everyone now.

As far as the hidden Tinkerbell, we checked for her the week of May 15-22 and unforunately, and she wasn't there. :veryconfu

I think that if you spend enough time looking around the store...She'll fly by on the walls or something. I've never seen her there, but I've never spent enough time looking (so please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Also, is that the place where you can look into a drawer lock and see her inside? Or am I making this one up? :p

Other things people have no clue you can do at Disney World:

Surfing School with "waves on demand" at Typhoon Lagoon
Horseback Riding
Bass Fishing
Breathless Cruises (little boats that go "zoom" in Crescent Lake)

Most things that people have never heard of are booked through 407-WDW-PLAY.

O.K......I give up. What hidden Tinkerbell? :veryconfu
When you walk into the store from the merry go round side right to your left is a dresser with a jewelry box on top of it. If you look through the key hole you will see Tink locked in the drawer and she is not happy about it.
