Hi. My name is rsoxguy (Not my real name, but really close; rsoxguru.) I grew up in a fairly well adjusted family, and I have no pressing need to go to WDW. I could live with or without it, but I reside close enough to have gone often over the past few decades. It's a truly fun and beautiful place in which to hang around, but my life is full enough without a theme park. I am addicted to a job that I deeply enjoy, a family that I absolutely adore, friends that reciprocate a great deal of love, and enough activities in a week to keep me fulfilled and happy to be alive.

You think you are well adjusted. Well I think you are the one who is sick.

Besides, if you live close enough you can go basically when ever you want, you may not realize how sick you are.

Rsoxguy, this is all very tongue-in-cheek... We're all joking around about being "addicted." I'm sure if you check profiles you'll see people have families, hobbies and professions and this isn't the center of their life . There are some people into it more than others... I know someone that HAS to go twice a year, we go every 4-5 and are fine.

Just joking around

they say that Speaking the truth is the first step .. I won't tell you that I heard of some really cheap airline deal and some other stuff yesterday, that I would love to look into .. and I can't right now.. as my whole body is twitching..

God bless the "Ignore" button.
As a recovering addict, I'd like to serve as a beacon of hope.

Sometimes when I feel weak, I give in, just a little, and play music from the parks.

At other times of weakness, though, it's the opposite, and I review the requirements Disney must meet in exchange for earning my money again.
They've got some work to do.

Welcome Bob! Not only do I have a "problem" but I have passed my "problem" on to my niece. There are worse things that we could have problems with

Welcome Bob!

Your in the right place my friend. I can sympathize about the abusive father, except imagine if the reason your father was abusive was BECAUSE of Disney. That's my father in a nutshell. When I was a kid, he'd say everything I did involving Disney was "immature and abnormal" and that "normal children don't act like I do". It can really take a toll on one's self-esteem when you hear something like that everyday for 18 years. He'd often wonder why I wasn't the star of the baseball team, beating up nerds on a daily basis, dating/dumping every girl on the cheer-leading team, etc....the stuff HE did as a kid.

Hello. Have you ever taken part in a conversation where people are speaking tongue-in-cheek about a topic such as swimming when it’s really cold outside? “Man, I could sure go for a swim in the pool right now", might be a comment shared in various ways. For whatever reason one person states, “You know, in all seriousness I’ve never really enjoyed swimming”. You see ItIngrIBella, I was just saying that I don’t enjoy swimming. I don’t have the need to check anyone’s profile because I believe that I’m a fairly reasonable and socially experienced guy. I’m certain that most of the people here have activities that reach beyond WDW. For what it’s worth to you, I have been to the parks hundreds of days over the past 25 years or so. Much more than the average, normal person. I only live a few hours away by car and I often purchase APs.

I was simply making a statement within a conversation the way that forum members often do. Nothing to fret over. You'll find that I am mostly a sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek type of guy around here. Every once in a while, I’m serious. You’ll find my lighter side much more often if the Red Sox can avoid last place in the AL East this season. Considering their current starting pitching lineup, I'm thinking that I'll wind up starting threads about nuclear fusion.

That's cool - I thought you were implying that we were serious and had nothing else in life! ;)

Hi Bob, I too am a disney addict and I give you props for being able to go from May to March. The thought of going that long in between visits just about made my heart stop lol. You're obviously way ahead of me in dealing with your "addiction" lol. In 2014 we went for a 3 day weekend in Jan for granddaughter's bday, a week in March for my bday and spring break, 3 day weekend in April for cheer worlds with my now grown ex-cheerleader daughter who still loves to go watch, a week in June for summer vaca, a couple odd single days in July and August, 3 days for my daughters wedding at disney in October followed by an additional week with the half of my family that came down from Kansas, then the week leading up to Thanksgiving with my granddaughter, and we're already booked for spring break again this year and I've been feeling the withdrawals since we didn't go in January. Sounds like you're handling things fine to me lol.

As a Dodgers fan, I understand. Still hoping the Kemp trade doesn't bite us in the butt....

I am shocked that there aren't more "addicts " like me.. or have admitted their "addiction".. however, I would be a bunch of money that a ton of folks, in Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit dialed 407 all day today after this big snow hit them.. and while we 'aren't going in March.. the DISNEY DISCUSSION rages on in this household.. trust me it does..
and it did some more tonight..

Hi Bob, mt name is Chris. It has been two weeks since returning home and I am about to pull out my hair, gouge out my eyes and plug my ears with concrete. God reality bites.

On a down note, I am planning our next trip for 2016ish.

We booked a holiday to Greece when we came back from our last trip so I would have 'something to count down too', but even that didn't work and we had to book another disney holiday for November.

Theres just nothing like it!!
