This will be my first year at a HHN. Always wnated to go but never got the chance. Well this year its set. I have got tickets for 26th September and got express passes. Two questions.

1. do you think I will need the express pass?
2. are there seperate queues for express pass ticket holders to the haunted houses?

Once you're there and you see the crowds, you will be very happy that you spent the cash for the express passes.

Usually, the Express Pass entrance is next to the regular entrance, or there will be signs directing you to the entrance. If all else fails, ask someone who's on the clock!

Have fun. Start saving up for the bar tab that will take place that night!

I've gone to HHN many times and never have had an express pass. It honestly depends when you go. If you go on a Friday or Saturday, especially close to Halloween, the lines will be crazy and it's probably a good idea. Last year I went on a Saturday in early October (last minute trip) and managed to do most of the houses/attractions and left early. However, a week later my friends only managed to get two houses done. You can definitely play games with the lines and avoid long ones but if you don't want to do that, an EP probably is a good idea :)

You will be elated you bought those passes, last year we waited for the Jason and Vampire houses for what must have been 2 to 3 hours. HHN crowds easily beat the crowds that are there during the day.

Good grief! I definitely lucked out the night I went... we waited about 5 mins for the Vampire house and only waited 15/20 mins for the Jason one. I heard The Thing usually had an insanely long line and we walked right into it (stupidly since I knew nothing about that movie and absolutely cannot handle any alien type thing haha)

However... I will say that the weird shenanigans we witnessed in line is motivation enough to support anyone getting passes lol

Wow! We bypassed the Chainsaw house because of the 120 minute wait and went to The Thing house and came back to the Chainsaw afterwards minutes before closing. We were euphoric for a 40 minute wait. You were either lucky or an excellent planner.

Considering the whole trip involved "hey do you want to go to HHN tonight?" "Oh. Ok. Pick me up in a few hours" I don't think my planning had anything to do with it... I'm thinking I would have been smart to buy a lottery ticket that night though  The Chainsaw house had the longest wait when we were there but it was 45 mins or so... I didn't do it because I hate the chainsaw guys and I figured they'd be in that house (I'm quite clever, I know).

It's nice being a local with a pass. You just stay for the 1st hour or so when the lines are under 30 minutes each, get 3 or 4 houses done and then leave to save the others for a later trip. I was able to see everything HHN had to offer last year (houses and shows) in 3 trips.

from reading another forum i see i could still have a major wait even with an express pass on opening night. Anyone else had expierience of this on opening night?

I did not read through the whole thread at HHN Vault.

The best thing to do with the passes on busy nights are go far back as possible. Hit as many of the houses before the lines get busy. Then work your back to the front and the lines for the express passes should be fine.
People always tend to flock to the first houses with or without express passes almost every night.

No, the houses for this year are as follows:

"Creatures" in SS22
"The Hallow" in Sprung Tent
"Dead Exposure" in Sprung Tent
"Scary Tales 3" in Parade Building (behind Barney)
"Body Collectors 2" in SS20
"Interstellar Terror" in SS20
"Doomsday" in Disaster Queue
"Bloody Mary" in Jaws Queue

Interesting to note that they are not using SS23 this year, but are
instead using SS20. I believe this is probably because of the coaster
construction.

Surprisingly they are using Disaster's queue, instead of Herc/Xena as
we had anticipated. Also, there doesn't seem to be an overall theme,
so we may not have an icon this year.

I'm looking forward to The Hallow, Scary Tales and Bloody Mary. Body
Collectors has a real good chance for greatness since it'll be in a
soundstage.
