HGTV's new series "My Yard Goes Disney,"

Yawn.
Felt like an infomercial for Disney, which in a way it was, I guess.
When the mom, right off the bat, mentioned making memories I laughed out loud. No way she wasn't fed that line.

Note to producers:
Less coverage of trucks unloading stuff.
Less needless in-park shots.
More time spent with WDI and design team.
More suspense. Don't spoil the ending.

I agree. Great potential, but not the best production.

I hope that they spend more time showing how to build that bamboo gym set in an upcoming episode than they did in the construction segments on the first show. With a DD on the way, it's time for some renovations to ours!

DVR'd the show last night, can't wait to see if they did better or worse than the first back yard! Good luck lifting your train little girl!

Thought last night was just ok. Though I think the yard was great. An actual useable yard that wasn't over the top.

Production values the same. Too much time on the wrong stuff.

I would systematically auction off each piece as hand made by Walt Disney Imagineering Unless It was Haunted Mansion would keep it forever then when I die they could bury me in the backyard.

I know it's mainly just a show to promote the parks and Disney in general but I don't find it to be horrible as most people are saying. Is it fluff-filled? Of course it is, it's a cable show that focusses on Disney. The main thing I get out of it is seeing what they come up with for the yards (impractical or not, the people that entered should know that's a risk) and seeing these families get some landscaping help and much need help with their landscaping.

I'm currently working on revamping our backyard currently and would love someone to come do it for free (even if I did have to pay the taxes or whatever nothing's entirely free). Not to mention how excited the kids are with everything. Sure they'll outgrow it, but the equity on the house probably doubled knowning that Disney did the backyard.

The Mom's of both families were EXACTLY what Disney was looking for though. Especially the mother that now has the Animal Kingdom-esque yard. Her voice was SOOOO annoying and she cried at EVERYTHING they brought in. Disney did it again trying to evoke emotions out of people at home.

I enjoy the show overall. But I just DVR it and skip so it only takes about 15 minutes of my time. Can't wait to see if they do it again or if these 7 shows are it.

I watched the second episode after being prompted by my wife and daughter. I found it to be a bit boring. There are so many renovation shows presently on TV, that I think Disney jumped on the bandwagon far too late. There isn't really anything distinctive or exciting about this show's production values. Just my opinion, of course.

people need to realize this isn't really a disney produced effort. They are partnering with it, but it is HGTV and Jaytv (www.jaytv.net) based in Covington KY that are the producers and ones responsible for the pacing and content of the show. The way it reads is that Disney is designing this, but it is more like they provide a general overall stylistic direction. It is the show designers that actually design the space and the elements that go in it - not disney. I totally agree that this is a boring show which focusses on overdone - bloated impractical designs - that don't really have that much WOW factor even on TV. On the last show they even said that all of the large fiberglass animals were purchased directly on line (read - no disney design)- that "with a little cash" you too could have an amazing yard - that to me is not great idea based design advice. I think we could all "with a little cash" order stuff to make a cool space - thanks for the big tip there!

Did we think it was the best tv show on tv? NO
Did it cost us anything to watch it? NO
Will we watch it again? Yes

I'm not sure if you guys watch much HGTV, but most of their shows are "fluffed" like this.....so don't blame Disney!

I'm starting to realize more and more that I need to stay off of these boards....it seems no matter what it is, people constantly just complain about Disney! If it's not one thing, it's another!

We're pretty much realists around here...

Um, ya, HGTV does as you call it Fluff the shows up, but not like this disney show, no friggin way.
Regular HGTV shows have a story line.
This disney show gives you the ending at the beginning, skips all the creative parts and just shows you the product.

The biggest thing with this show is that the producers are more concerned with showing off WHAT WAS made than showing off HOW it was made and more than HOW THE PRODUCT IS IMPLEMENTENTED for the family.

They are looking more for the reaction of the product as it comes in on the truck by the family and viewers. Its blatent....
"Look what we have here rolling in" Isnt this great""///then all of the sudden
its in place after you see the wow factor...

You CANNOT tell me HGTV programs like this....
Holmes on Holmes is a great example of HGTV good programming.

There is a story line.
He meets the owners, gives a broad background on what happened to the viewers, brings in his design team and workers, is detailed in what he is going to do TO THE viewers, proceeds with the construction of which viewers are deeply immersed in, and shows interviews with the owners during.

And then finally reveals ending the story line....

Please dont say that this disney show is normal for HGTV...
nothing about the show except the concept fits in with HGTV's
good programming

I'm not sure if you guys watch much HGTV, but most of their shows are "fluffed" like this.....so don't blame Disney!

I 100% agree on that last point. The one thing Extreme Makeover:Home Addition did for a long time was that they showed you the parts, but not the end product until the reveal. MYGD shows you NEXT WEEKS end product in the PREVIEW.

By the way, the first week they tore down the fence between the two yards to create on single yard. yea, that just killed off any resale value you had.

Did anyone else notice that the ears on the Mickey pool from this week's episode were too small for the size of the head????

I would have been upset if they did that to my backyard and they messed up the proportions!

Also they forgot to give the little girl a way to get down from the zip line! There was no landing platform!
