Hey, what happened to the thread I was reading?

Quite honestly the line moved far better before fast pass was brought into the equation. This is one instance were they exacerbated the very problem they were trying to fix with their solution.

I have to agree, the ratio of FP's issued is way too high for this ride. Reminds me of all the people who speed down a highway in the left lane which is about to close, they end up getting in but it jams up the road for everyone else. A few people doing that won't matter, but too many people cutting in will eventually stop regular traffic.

It was deleted got way off topic
Geez... How far off topic to you have to go to get deleted?!? Every thread on the first page has 60+ pages of replies, almost a year old, and is as far from the original topic as possible. Take the Pirates refurb thread for example. That's supposed to be about what changes were made and it ended up as a flamewar about the films. The Hub refrub thread devolved into some fight over are there enough trees at WDW.... I mean, there's almost no moderation here. Zombie threads are everywhere too (threads over a year old bumped to the front page).

The most effective line reducer is to close it. They have done that with a number of attractions in the past few years. Works like a charm. No lines at all.

For Pan they could double the speed of the ride vehicles and it would become a real adventure.

Ok, 6 ways.

I was thinking more along the lines (heh) of increasing either admission or charging per ride.

I don't understand it either. Steve needs to delete a lot of users instead of threads, it seems like people just want to start fights with each other. This site was very different 2 years ago :(

No - I can say in no uncertain terms that WDW has not lost its magic. If someone handed me $5000 and said go anywhere you want with this money, I would choose Disney. If someone handed me $10,000 and said go anywhere, I would choose Disney twice. There is no place more magical and immersive than WDW.

I think the problem is that a lot of people went to Disney as children and had amazing experiences which are probably missing elements of reality now in their memories and so they hold things to an unrealistic expectation. And some people have gone as adults and had amazing experiences and were overwhelmed by it and their memories are probably a bit distorted towards the positive side of reality. What happens then is that people become addicted to WDW and get on forums like this with people likewise addicted and all we want to do is talk Disney; which includes analytics, opinions, experiences (good and bad), etc. By doing this, we can actually take the magic out of it for ourselves.

Reading through this forum over the years, some of the things I've read would make one think Disney has just gone down the tubes. And, I hated that when I would go back I would see all of these little things that I would have never noticed before. So, what I started doing was spending way LESS time on the rumors forum, and spending way more time in positive threads in discussion, trip planning, etc.

Actually when I saw the title "Has Disney lost its magic" (or whatever it was called), I intentionally didn't read it because I didn't want to hear all of the bad-mouthing. But, I'm glad to see that the consensus was no, because I wholeheartedly agree with that.

I would say everyone is entitled their own opinion. Some swear it is better than ever...others that has never been worse. I hover in the middle and see little bits of magic taken away here and there that the pixie duct cannot be swept over. At the end of the day it is only an internet forum and the biggest issue is...

People tend to confuse "fights" with debates that get a little heated. It happens all the time on forums like this and in actual conversation.

That would be exactly why Disney does everything it can to make sure you don't really see how the park functions and that part all remains backstage. Some get the illusion ruined when they know what creates the illusion. Personally, I am the type the gets more magic out of seeing how things work to make the illusion. Different strokes would be the reason for that, but for those that would have it ruined it is best to leave it unseen.

Now you get on a discussion board, like this one, and everything is showing. Warts and all are brought up for discussion. Then the next time you go, instead of losing yourself in the atmosphere you are looking to see if you see those problems as well. You may or may not see them but the fact that you focus your energy on looking automatically took away some of the magic. Instead of letting it happen, we find ourselves looking for it.

Another problem, that was mentioned is that if we went very young (I was 35 on my first visit, so I don't really think that applies) I really was impressed, but, I wasn't later influenced by memories of childhood that are always bigger then reality. The example I use for that often is this... if you can, go back to the house that you grew up in and tell me that it isn't smaller then you remember, that your room was much smaller then it possibly could have been back then, because you remember it to be huge. The house was huge, the yard was huge, the kitchen was huge. Everything is simply out of scale with our memories. It's a pretty human way to be. It is interesting to hear the other side and compare it to our own memories, but, to stay grounded and continue to enjoy an early pleasure, we need to make sure that the inner child is allowed to come front and center and to leave the inspecting officer at home where it belongs.

I don't mind heated debate, in fact it might be said that I am in a number of them, but, I draw the line and completely discredit, in my mind, anyone that decides that name calling or labeling is the way to get a point across. If one doesn't have a feasible argument and can only resort to calling people rubes, pixie dusters or apologists instead of proving there point, then they have lost me and I'd bet a considerable number of other people in the process. It's the bully's way of winning arguments and that should never be allowed anywhere, much less a Disney based board.

It really didn't on here before, it's seems like over the last 2 years this site has seen a lot of new members who like to argue. 5 years ago, everyone knew the trouble makers name, now there are so many.......it is what it is .. Thank you ..have a magical day:)

I actually thought threads were getting better. Before Lucasfilms aquisition it was all "fP+ will be horrible" and "disney never gets anything new". At least discussion seems a little more real now.

What was the WDWMagic site like 2 years ago?
About the same. It depends on what area you are spending time in. I've been fairly active around here for the past 3 or 4 years and I really don't see a big difference. Actually, some of the name calling has died down a lot. Good for us!

For what it's worth...there's always been debating/arguing/disagreement here but the tone on a lot of it has become more personal recently.

It was getting ugly and personal more than just off topic.
