If you guys aren't sure when you're coming (you, your mom and brother), you ought to consider coming out on July 20th for the meet-up. Just a suggestion. It would only get you pumped up again for your 7/31 trip back!

We've got something going on that day.

It's nothing special. Not all the rides are open, the boardwalk (waterpark) is closed and it's only open on select weekends. There is trick or treating. It's kinda like Candylane for Christmas time.

Their Halloween event (Hersheypark in the Dark) is basically the entire park available, minus the Boardwalk and the water attractions. All coasters should be up and running as well - all for a cheaper price, plus you get the fall colors as an added bonus as well.

dorney park is even better for halloween

dorney park's Halloween Haunt was originally introduced in 1998 as Halloweekends, but was renamed Halloween Haunt in 2008
The 2013 attraction line up will be announced in summer 2013
Dorney Park is featured as the "Tilted Acres" park backdrop in the 1988 John Waters' film Hairspray. In the film, the character Franklin Von Tussle, played by Sonny Bono, owns an amusement park.
Also, the 1968 film, Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows features scenes of Dorney Park including the old Alfundo entrance over the coaster , the Pirate's Cove (Bucket O' Blood), Journey to the Center of the Earth, the Scrambler, the Coaster (Thunderhawk), and other Dorney Park scenes.
In Summer 2006, a music video for the Kidz Bop song "Move Along" by The All-American Rejects was filmed at Dorney Park.

Hershey tried their hand at a haunted house back in 2004 and was very successful with it. There was talks about bringing it back for 2005 because it was a hit but then they decided to drop it because they wanted the main focus of their event to be aimed towards families as it always was.

I'm not a big haunted house fan so what Hershey does is fine to me.

"Hersheypark in the Dark" is more of a family-friendly event. The park is decorated with pumpkins, hay bales, scarecrows plus they have Treatville for the trick-or-treaters. All rides and coasters are running, with the exception of the water attractions, all for a much cheaper gate admission price. If you are looking for something with haunted houses, then this event is not for you. More info can be found at http://www.halloweeninhershey.com

On top of this, I will be hosting a meet-up at the park on October 19th for Hersheypark in the Dark. Anyone is welcome and if you plan to (or might) attend, feel free to add your name to the list. We will be meeting outside Chocolate World's main entrance at 11 a.m. Park hours are 12 noon - 10 pm that day. Go here for more info regarding the meet-up: https://www.facebook.com/events/164684343724805/ Hope to see you there!

Wow I didn't realize Hershey park is still open! I guess I'm still stuck on Kennywood's schedule of closing it down for the season after Labor Day... minus the Halloween fright nights!

I can see the Kissing Tower out my back window. I can hear all the concerts for free, I'm home from Bears games in 5 minutes and the growl of the Great Bear can be felt in the floor of my home.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Or sometimes one, sometimes the other? ;)

I have not been there is several years, but I liked the Halloween. It was about half the price of the regular ticket. Until early evening, we basically walked on everything. Again this was several years ago, so I do not know how much of this is still true.

It is a very nice park. To me, it is reminiscent in ways of BG Williamsburg, with the trees (and hills).

My fathers is from Franklin Pa. and we lived in Carlisle Pa. for a year so while we were there or when we visited our relatives we would go to Hershey Park. I always loved the "Factory" ride in the front of the park especially since you would get a free Hershey bar. :hungry:

Just a heads-up for all you Hersheyparkers that may come visiting this year... Your single day admission is catching up to that of WDW, slowly but surely.

Admission price is at or a little above $60 for a single adult. Parking is $14.

Your best bet is to find one of the Giant grocery stores in the area, there's one on Rt. 743 and another on Rt 39, both are within 5 miles of the park, and you can get discount tickets. A single discount ticket will take off $16, so it is $44. They have a special right now that if you get 2 discount tickets, they'll throw in free parking as well.

So hit up a Giant on your way in or when you get to town and save yourself some serious money. Also, if you're coming in from a distance, if you get in late enough, they do have twilight packages where you only pay like half admission to get into the park after certain hours (depends on when the park closes). If you want to kinda scope out the place ahead of time.
