that movie is actually a quentin terrintino movie ( and i cant spell)
Joel and I are looking forward to it. Joel thinks that its a live action anime type film because of the part where the thousands of arrows going toward jet li and he cuts a hole in them... He says its a very anime-thing to do lol

but yes...it looks terrific

I was just reading about this movie. People Magazine gave it a great review and I almost always agree with their critics. It's supposed to be the biggest film to come out of China so far. Can't wait to see it. :)

Just saw the movie, and Tarintino's name is nowhere in the credits. I was kinda perturbed by that, but otherwise it's a phenominal movie. The plot is a little difficult to follow, and the entire film is subtitled. Those are the only two "drawbacks" in the entire flick. It is beautiful and well directed. Should be a shoe in for the foreign film Oscar this year. Absolutely amazing.

4 out of 4 stars.

I hadn't heard QT's name attatched to Hero until I read this thread. I thought it was Chinese-produced/directed/etc. So I looked at IMDB and found this:

Miramax, the distributor, apparently cut out 20 minutes from the movie because they found that part to be "too Asian and confusing" for western audiences. Then-Miramax honcho Harvey Weinstein made a deal with Quentin Tarantino that he'd release the film uncut if Tarantino would allow a "Quentin Tarantino Presents" tag at the beginning of the film. Tarantino agreed.

I could be wrong but I think Tarantino was brought in only for the movie's American release under Miramax. I don't think he had anything to do with the actual creation of the film.

Thanks Erika, that actually explains a lot. I figured Tarentino would simply be involved in bringing it stateside.

The cinematography looks amazing. It looks like one hell of a beautiful film, and that's probably the only reason I'll go watch it.

hmm
all i saw were the commercials that said "qt presents"
wierd

OK, now that makes sense. He was brought in as a "presenter" of the film but nothing else. All that means is that he is the one chosen to introduce the film to us, the American audience (see above for the reasoning behind the decision).
