Sooo- last night my DH went to the doctor with excruciating pain. Come to find out he might have a hernia. Nothing to require surgery (yet) but still inconvenient. We leave on Sunday... Anybody else go to the parks with an injury like this?
OMG how terrible- what a trooper to push on through for ya!
I had a hernia last year, and ended up having surgery about 3 months before our trip to WDW. Although, my hernia did not have any pain associated with it at all. It may have been a different type from your DH's, but I can tell you it may be uncomfortable being on his feet walking for long distances. Just follow your doctor's advice, as there can be serious complications if left untreated.
It sounds like he should take it easy. This may be a perfect situation for a motorized scooter rental. I don't think most of the rides will be an issue for him, unless they put stress on that region (like, teacups or RNR).
Also, and this is all in good fun...I couldn't help myself but add this...
Sorry about your DH's hernia. Has he done any fair amount of walking to get ready for the trip and how does he feel? A scooter may be the way to go if he is having trouble walking even a normal amount. Good luck, be careful and have a great vacation.
Did the doctors say he could walk and ride rides? Because if they didn't, he should ask them. And if they did, it won't make anything worse.I am terrified that he will make matters worse by walking around. I would think that riding rides will only make it progress further. He is in clear pain, but calls it only "discomfort". .

They will absolutely tell you when there are things you shouldn't do. They really, REALLY will.
Don't make it harder than it needs to be! Do what they tell you. It's the best you can do. And let them do the worrying for you. Worry won't help anything at all.
Back in my mid-20's (around '94), I too had a hernia...wasn't really an issue for me unless I was splitting firewood, or picking up things I had no reason to be. Didn't even know I had one till I went on a stand-up coaster at Kings' Dominion in VA.! After living with it just fine for about 5 years, I finally had it repaired. Dr. told me it was one of the worst he'd seen. As long as DH takes it easy with the luggage, and takes a break of it gets bad, he should be fine. Don't be a hero and he has to use his head (which you of course already is no easy feat for us guys!). Enjoy your vacation!
Hope he can at least enjoy some of the things he was looking forward to doing and wont have to alter your plans too much so that it isnt fun. I would be the same way, telling my wife I'm O.K. to go and hide my discomfort as best I could. I wouldnt think you would have any heavy lifting to do , but the jostling around on some rides might cause discomfort. Have him try a few of the easier rides and see how he makes out.I am terrified that he will make matters worse by walking around. I would think that riding rides will only make it progress further.
