Help with DVC trading

Looking for a bit of advice from someone with experience in this area:

I'm trading Hilton Grand Vacation Club points through RCI to get accomodations at a DVC resort for my honeymoon in July of 2011. Disney doesn't deposit rooms until 11 months in advance of the reservation date so we have a bit of time to wait, but we're already on the waiting list and our HGVC agent assured us that our place in line would indicate a 99.5% chance of landing a DVC resort, even though it might not be our #1 choice.

Assuming we DO get our DVC reservation, will I be able to purchase the dining plan when we buy our tickets, as we will be staying at a DVC but won't be DVC members ourselves? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Usually, that sort of thing is handled by the DVC member, on behalf of the person who is renting his or her points. Since you're doing this through HGVC, you may need to ask them, as they may need to arrange that for you. They're probably the better people to ask.

I appreciate the advice but unfortunately, both HGVC and RCI have been utterly useless. Also, under the RCI exchange system, we don't rent points FROM a DVC member, we just trade our HGVC points for DVC nights that have been deposited in the RCI database, sometimes by members, sometimes by Disney themselves.

Maybe you should rent your HGVC points

You might be better off (better exchange rate) by renting/selling your HGVC points and renting directly from a dvc member. They can set up DDP for you without any issues.
