Help with Dining Credits

I'm not sure if I'm using the correct wordage. Also, this will be my first time using the dining plan. I really want to get the most out of it I can.

Are all restaurants worth one dining credit? I thought that I heard/read somewhere that Cinderella's Royal Table is two dining credits. Are there any other restaurants that are two dining credits? For example, I was thinking about going to Coral Reef for a nice lunch/dinner, would this be one credit or two?

Thank you in advance for your help. I've never done the dining plan before, and I'm so excited to try it this time around. Although I have eaten in the character restaurants and many of the more popular restraunts, I'd also like to try new places, but also get the most out of the dining plan by not "wasting" credits.

Avoid 2 credit places at all costs unless they are 'must-dos' for your party.

Keep in mind snack credits, as they can be easily wasted on a bottled water. If you play your cards right, they can end up getting you a quick breakfast or great dessert at night.

Always tell the server you are on the DDP, they will usually ask though. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Sometimes it will be better to just pay out of pocket and save your points for later in your trip. Be sure to see the prices and options on AllEars or here.

You will get tired of some of the generic dessert options for lunch: just a warning.

If you have a group you pool your credits. For instance, my wife and I would get 10 total snack credits for 5 days. This means, if I get a yogurt in the morning and a pineapple float at night each day, I will be eating into her credits.

Hope any of this helps...

This is very good information. I have been thinking about snacks--instead of grabbing water as a "snack," using the credit for something more satisfying, and perhaps, more pricey (making the deal work for me).

That's good to know that the points are pulled together. I'm taking my brother and he can drink pop like a fish--I don't want him ordering 20 pops in a matter of 3 day's time, leaving me with no snack credits.

Thanks for your help. This is my first time doing the dining plan and I'm excited about it. I know my parents did it years and years ago (when it first came out), but it has also changed so much since then.

Thank you for your help!!

That pretty much covers it!

I'd definitely recommend the Main Street Bakery for use of a Snack! lol.

The other tip I thought I'd add is that after every transaction, you get a receipt that shows you your available credits. Keep an eye on that, as my party did the same thing last August (We had 8 in our party) and I ended up 2 quick services short because someone decided they were extra hungry at the resort, and didn't want to pay cash for that meal (which we had agreed to do)

My most often used snacks were Pineapple Floats, stuff at Mainstreet Bakery, and Yogurt w/Granola for breakfast.

Another thing though, don't freak out when you're down there about price. Keep in mind, you're on vacation, you're not grocery shopping or doing taxes.
There's no point constantly putting off things to 'save' your points... in the end, you'll end up having a ton of credits to use on your last day and you'll feel compelled to use 'em or lose 'em. I'd rather have used some of my points earlier when I really wanted the stuff, rather than forcing something down my last day just to justify the DDP.

Agreed. The one thing we found (especially with young kids) was that they didn't need to each used a counterservice credit. They often shared a meal (portion sizes tend to be kind of large (e.g. chicken and ribs at Cosmic Rays)). We also found that we were so busy doing things, and so full from the meals, that we didn't use all the snacks. The kids usually used a lot of the snack credits on the last day to bring things on the plane/bring home.
