I was there with my family on our summer road trip July or August 1971. I know it wasn't summer of 72. Not all attractions were open, but most were.

Brian and I were at Woodstock, it was the summer of '69, and despite the lavish consumption of consciousness-enhancing substances, I have vivid memories of us driving down to Florida afterwards to dodge the draft, and as we pulled into Orlando - and as I pulled aside my long hair covering my face - there it was, just-a-gleaming in the sun: Disney World. And yes, for all you pedantic disbelievers, the MK was still under construction indeed, but did you bunch of squares take into account that EPCOT was already open? It was still a city back then, beneath a giant dome, before they later destroyed all that under Eisner.

some of us got an invite by Uncle Sam to vacation in the lovely tropical jungle --never got a chance to work on my tan thoughtBrian and I were at Woodstock, it was the summer of '69, and despite the lavish consumption of consciousness-enhancing substances, I have vivid memories of us driving down to Florida afterwards to dodge the draft, and as we pulled into Orlando - and as I pulled aside my long hair covering my face - there it was, just-a-gleaming in the sun: Disney World. Do you have an address of where one can get those consciousness enhancing things. Seems like a nice world to be in. I had a far different experience back then as in the summer of '69 I was still bracing myself for my next assignment in exotic South East Asia. I couldn't figure out what the appropriate uniform would be for Woodstock so I didn't go. Why would you fly all the way to 'nam when the Poly was already open?Do you have an address of where one can get those consciousness enhancing things. Seems like a nice world to be in. Who could pass up free airfare (both directions, but each direction was a year apart), meals and lodging for a whole year. It's better than winning on "The Wheel of Fortune". And talk about your tropical climate. Chilly there was about 95 degrees and that was in the winter. Why would you fly all the way to 'nam when the Poly was already open?
If you can remember Woodstock '69 . . . . . .
You weren't really there.![]()
The Preview Center was open in 1970. While visiting family in St. Pete Beach, we drove over to visit it. I still have the literature from the Center packed away somewhere .I thought I read somewhere that there was an Information/Visitor Center in Lake Buena Vista before the park opened. Either way, I think you've provided enough proof, it's time for your buddies to bring some proof of their own.
Quote from Since the World Began by Jeff Kurtti pg 38
"The Walt Disney World Preview Center opened in nearby Lake Buena Vista in June 1970. In this attractive temporary building, visitors could see a large model and view paintings, drawings and demonstrations about the forth coming vacation kingdom. Prior to the opening of the resort in October 1971, more than one million visitors had a sneak preview of Walt Disney World from a staff of tour guides using artists' rederings, models, slides and a motion picture. Also, from Labor Day through September 30, employees and their families, constructionworkers, civic leaders, and local business people were admitted to the Magic Kingdom for 'test runs.'"
I hope that helps.![]()
