Here's my opinion:

Figment is the shiz-nit. :) Update the ride all you want, just keep Figment. That's what they did, and I am cool with that.

(oh, and I also like the theme song) :D

I really don't see how I "Lost my marbles". NO, I just like them! And we need to make the new attractions just as classic for everyone. I like the old attractions, and some new ones don't really match up for me - since their focus is on other groups. So why not create attractions that has a little for everyone? All it takes is teamwork.

Test Track had a totally different view on motion. That's fine. But half the pavilion is unused! Why not add on to the pavilion? Maybe create an updated small history/future motion attraction for those who can't ride Test Track? Those who liked World of Motion would be pleased, those who like Test Track would be unaffected, and it would also serve as an area to ride while getting fastpass. Meanwhile, Test Track breaks down, which aggravates many WOM fans. I'm not saying bring back World of Motion; but create an attraction that targets the original fans so they can continue coming back and enjoying the pavilion as well. OR create a Test Track which would appeal to the WOM fans also? All it takes is teamwork.

Did you read those long messages I made? I don't see what is so radical or scary about it!

As for the pictures, I liked the old Figment more. So I found some pictures that would work perfectly - and created a small fan fiction with my opinion. But I still haven't seen a reply from those who like the new Figment; oh well.

Like I said before...(I hope this dosen't become a recurring thing...)

They could update the finale showing how much technology will progress in the future. Imagine IM'ing with a hologram of your friends! Sending your own AI NetNavigational program into the Net that you converse with and search all over for files and music so you don't have to, and there would be no need for filters because the Navi could alter the parents if the kid or teen tries to access something naughty!(OK, so I ripped the Navi idea from MegaMan Battle Network, but what the heck?) They could go on and on with the marvels that would only be avaiable to the future. Therefore, that would make the attraction new a little bit.

And why not have some "easy living" also?? :)

Nice reply, Figment! I guess I can't face that reality...but, heck, it wouldn't hurt to bring the original Figment back...that's what we were originally asking for anyway! :D

Please - those people who voted for the new Figment, I'm just interested in why...Maybe you can convince me so far as I can like him! :)

Wow, miss a day or two and I'm blown away how far this thread has gone!! But to respond to this post from pages ago...
this quote got me..."bring the original Figment back...that's what we were originally asking for anyway!"

I have to admit that as a life long Figment Fan, I did my share of asking Disney to bring Figment back, but I did not ask for the original Figment. So where you stated "we" asked for original Figment back, I would need to exclude myself from that statement for I did not. I just asked for Figment back.

I think the modernized Figment is very cute, Disney worked hard to find a close voice to Billy Barty's...I wanted to enter a building and be immersed in my favorite character and by golly, that's what they did. No it doesn't follow the original concept, but perhaps deep down, I didn't care about that. It was "Figment the dragon" that drew me in, as well as the technology that drove the entire attraction.
Perhaps at the root, I am not the same type of Fig Fan as you, because I am delighted by what they have done and beyond the observations, my view on the new ride remains untarnished.
To David Mummford and his crew of Imagineers, you did a great job with the budget you were given! Even Tony Baxter (Fig's original creator) had a say in the new ride. Tony was not involved with JIYI, but he got involved when Disney gave the green light to bring Fig back. Nothing they can do will please all of us, so they went with what will please most of us.

Yes, it is hard to get a close voice. But listen to the JIYI voice of Figment, it was much closer...

Oh well. It's just hard for me to explain...I just miss the original...yeah, he's back in a new form, but after watching one video and then the next, boy! There really is a difference!

Here's my 2 cents:

I DON'T THINK THERE SHOULD BE A "SAVE FIGMENT" CAMPAIGN--GOOD OL' FIGGY HAS ALREADY BEEN SAVED!

GIVE THE IMAGINEERS A BREAK! THEY DID THEIR BEST AND I, FOR ONE, APPRECIATE THIS MOST RECENT EFFORT!

So what if his personality's become modern--many characters (even Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, etc.) have been modernized one way or another.

If they didn't modernize those characters, they probably would've become boring and un-popular with the newer audiences.

I like the newest Imagination ride for several reasons:

-The fact that Figment (who's been a favorite among my family and myself for years) is in it.
-The "One Little Spark" song has been resurrected
-Numerous in-jokes and references to the original Imagination attraction can be found throughout the ride.
-It has whimsy--an element that began to die at Epcot when the original Future World attractions began to disappear.

My parents like it too. We enjoyed the original version, though. Unlike others, we DID give the 1999 version a chance...and we didn't like it very much.

Everyone, please don't listen to other peoples' opinions (including Grizzlyhall's). Just get out there and go on the new "Journey into Imagination with Figment anyway--there stands a chance that you'll enjoy it.

Until you actually ride this new attraction...please reserve judgement.

Thank you.

Despite all this character anyalsis we've been doing lately, I still like JII With Figment. I'm thankful for it for the sole reason that it brought back a little bit of the feeling I used to get at Epcot as a kid, which the park lacked last time I went.

I do agree with Grizz on a few points, and I love it when he does these detailed anyalsis things...

Sorry, Phillip - I just wanted to know everyone's opinions. If I knew we all liked the new Figment, that' idea'd be down the drain! But my main intention was to know why those who like the new...like the new. The campaign wouldn't be writing to Disney, but ensuring by the time the "next" attraction pops up, Figment might not get his character to be double as it is now...or we might just have an Iago in Imagination!

Here's my version of the story of dreamfinder's dissappearance:
When Eisner took power long ago,he stumbled on the magic seals that protect all of the attractions at WDW.The seals were only removed when an attraction was renovated or replaced.Unfortunately,Eisner grew greedy and selfish and began a rampage, destroying classics like 20k,Kitchen Kaberet, and WoM.
Blinded in his mindless rampage,he destroyed Mr. Toad and prepared for attack on JII.He sent his Garthim soldiers to Epcot.
Mickey knew that Eisner was going too far and tried to stand up for Figment and Dreamfinder but was pushed away. The Garthim had began the destruction. The show building was stripped down to a black void. The garthim took dreamfinder away and nearly got figment but mickey came just in time.He tried to save dreamfinder but the garthim got away.Just before the garthim teleported off to eisner's lair Dreamfinder told figment to treasure the past, for it can save the future.

I really don't know. Probably becuase I don't remember the original figment. I was there in '94 but only 5 so you know I don't quite remember him that much. All I know is whenever we go on this ride we're the only ones on and my sister sings the way through. She can be the audio at this point. I'm so sick of it already I try to do everything I can so I don't go on this ride becuase if I do I will be singing one spark of light... for the rest of the day!
