Help please: AK EMH or Fantasmic Dinner Package?

I have the Fantasmic dinner package booked for 5/11, and I'm questioning whether or not to use it now. They've added a second showing of Fantasmic, and it's also an AK EMH night (5-8pm). I've only visited AK in the mornings, so I'm interested in seeing the park at a different time of day. I've heard that the park with EMH tends to have the heaviest crowds, but I've also heard that the Studios is mobbed any day that Fantasmic is showing. I'm tempted to cancel the dinner package, spend the day at AK, and hop to the Studios after AK closes just to see second showing of Fantasmic. This is the only day of our visit that we can see Fantasmic, and I've never seen it, so it is an absolute must-do. This is also the only day AK has late EMH's. I have no idea what to do- please help!

If Fantasmic is a must do, and you don't want to blow a lot of time waiting in a line to try and get a seat, I suggest keeping the ressie. We still haven't gone to see Fantasmic, because seriously, can't see spending that much time on our vacation just waiting. Next trip def. need to do the Fantasmic package!

I think I would try the plan you just suggested yourself!

Try out AK EMH and then hop over to DHS and catch the second showing of F! (I've never been to a second showing but I've heard it's not crowded at all!)

Stick with that ressie and hold off on AK EMH until your next viist, if its busy, people will wait on the line for the next fantasnic, so much better seeing it with the dinner package. Fantasmic is great, we only see it with the package since have no patience for that line

I would go with the Fantasmic! Dinner Package. I always try to catch the show once on every trip. For our trip in November, may group is renting a one of the two patios overlooking Fantasmic! and going to have a dinner there. Going to cost a few bucks, but looking forward to it.

It will be busy at both but i'd stick to Fantasmic! During our entire stay, Fantasmic was only showing two times, one of them being on the day we left.

I did the Fantasmic Package in August of 09, Great seats, no Wait. I've also done the 2nd showing, minor wait, not real crowded, same great show.

I've also done AK EMH (Evening) and found everything rideable quickly with no wait. (EE-10-15 mins a ride - Did it 4X, Dinosaurland - 10 min, Dinosaurs - 15, TTBAB-5 min)

I guess it comes down to do you want to run around and ride your pants off, hop back to the park, then catch a late seat for the show or do you want a sit down dinner, and a guaranteed show? I've done both, depends on the group you are with. If they don't mind multiple hops/stops/Disney Transportation enjoy the EMH.

I'll go against everybody...

Fantasmic! is a waste of time. It's worth seeing once, but IMO that's it. There's much more fun to be had at AK during evening EMH. Riding EE at night is one of the best experiences I've had at WDW and after about an hour of EMH the most time you'll spend will be walking through the near-empty queue to ride again and again! :king:

I have to agree with monty here. If you have never gotten the chance to see AK at night, then you should definitely do this. The park takes on a whole new personality at night and is absolutely incredible. There are so many paths to explore that give you great views of the tree of life that you just can't appreciate as much during the day. Unless you are a huge Fantasmic fan, I definietely recommend AK.

This is exactly why I wanted to try AK EMH! I've heard that the park is a whole new experience at night, but on the other hand, I've never seen Fantasmic either- so torn! Why must they be on the same day? lol

Animal Kingdom is so beautiful and quiet at night. I wouldn't pass up EMH there. While Fantasmic! was good, it's not something that we would rush again to see. We still haven't seen the show in Epcot. We keep saying we have to see it when there and never get around to it. :) My opinion is do Animal Kingdom. But whatever you decide, have a great time!!

Fantasmic is a must-see, in my opinion. When we go in August, I'm scheduling dinner reservations around at least two showings ;~)

But obviously people think AK is great a night - I could care less - but if that's something you'd like to see, definitely go to AK EMH and head over to catch the late Fantasmic. That way you get the best of both worlds. :)

PS. I always think it's funny how they seat from front to back in the ampitheater at Fantasmic - the best seats are in the back so you get the entire overall view - so don't worry about being a little late! (Just not so late you have to stand for the whole thing ;~))

I think i woud do AK EMH and take my chances that the late show will not be as crowed and you will still have a great mid stage seat. If you dont have a car worse case hop a cab to get you to DHS faster. Show is awesome and really worth seeing at least once...you should be fine with the late show with no package. (not like they let you the special entrance any more...you go with the crowd). GO FOR IT!!! Do it all!!!

Thank you all for your help! Since opinions are pretty equally divided, and I can't make a decision for the life of me, I called Disney dining yesterday, and was able to move the Fantasmic ADR ahead to 2:10pm, plus I was able to get Mama Melrose instead of Hollywood and Vine. I figure with the earlier meal, we can decide that day whether or not we try to hop to AK for a little bit of EMH. On a side note, while looking online for available ADR's yesterday, I found Cinderella's Royal Table for this Monday at 8:10- what are the chances?!? So I grabbed that right away, but now we only have an hour between our CRT ADR and the Wishes dessert party. Even if its rushed, I'm still excited to eat in the castle! Thanks again for all the help!
