Help out a newbie (please)

God bless the "Ignore" button.
If you wanna see the parade, make sure you go to the spots marked on the map for show stops, otherwise it's goofily short.

Also, at least witness Donkey at the Shrek meet and greet. Even if you're not a character kind of person, Donkey is amazing.

Okay, so I've been playing around with some touring plans and this is far from our final plan, but can anyone tell me if these wait times are anywhere close to accurate. I find it hard to believe we can get all this done between 10:00 and 2:00 on a Wednesday in August.

Are you using Express for those? I'd say your times are quite possible, but definitely on the optimistic side.

Spider-Man definitely would be more like 20 minutes in standby, but single rider will be a lot shorter. Hogwarts Express seems a bit short, I'd add 10 minutes there, and don't forget the next day you will want to ride it back, as it needs to be done both ways.

Also going to Three Broomsticks at 1300 is absolutely the worst time, peak lunch, so you'd be looking at a good 15 minute wait for the restaurant. Leave it until 1400 and you should be able to get in immediately though.

You also don't make any mention of Jurassic Park... now while you may not want to go on the ride (although it's highly recommended, ponchos might be needed depending on how hot the weather is) the area itself is great to take a look at, so you might want some time for this.

I'd say the main thing your touring plan lacks is 'smell the roses' time to just enjoy the atmosphere. Marvel, Jurassic, Potter (you could spend at least an hour in the shops in Hogsmeade) and the Seuss area are all fun to look at and the great theming is definitely the main point where the park beats Disney. In total another hour for strolling around and taking it in would be wise.

This is especially true if other people are following your touring plan, as it can lead to conflict as the other members of the party may want to stop to look at the amazing things, take pictures etc., while you know you have to keep moving to get to an attraction at a certain time. When following a tight plan like this, I'd say keep it as flexible as possible.

So to sum up for a first morning, coming back again the next day that's a good plan, but if that was all you were doing in IoA on the trip, I'd definitely suggest more time as the plan as it stands shortchanges the park a bit.

How would you rate the intensity of "Flight of the Hippogriff"? Is it like Barnstormer, Big Thunder or more?

:confused:Really?
Most of the reviews list it as a kiddie coaster.
Edit: I guess I'll have to deal with it (I'm somewhat afraid of heights). Thanks for the warning.

Maybe between RnR and Barnstormer...

It's not a kiddie coaster (my kiddo was tall enough to do WWoHP, but not Hippogriff.

I haven't been on it since it was Dueling Dragons, but I'm fairly sure they haven't changed the track.

Thanks englanddg and Joe Camel
We will not be doing Dueling Dragons, but it seems like the other Harry Potter Rides are doable for us. We don't usually ride roller coasters, but since we are big Harry Potter fans, we will take our chances with FJ and Escape from Gringotts. (Unless you think my mom would be better off just doing the tour.)

Next Question ;):
I Know that there are a lot of 3D simulator rides (Transformers, Terminator, Shrek, Simpsons) and that most of these have a row of stationary seats at the front. Are there any that you would suggest my mom not ride or use the stationary seats for? She is okay walking and on most rides, but I would hate to aggravate her injuries especially at the beginning of our trip (e.g. even before she fell, riding Tower of Terror was too much for her back). Are they very jerky and rough?

Transformers/Spider-Man is not a ride system I would usually categorize as rough, but it may not be the best idea for someone recuperating from injury. That goes double for Simpsons. Shrek is very shaky but has stationary seating. Ditto Despicable Me.
