Help needed with internet explorer!!

HEllo there everyone! :wave:
I have an internet explorer question.
I have been using netscape,cause my internet explorer is messed up. it takes forever for it to find a website and it keeps saying detecting proxy settings and the little bar slowly creeps up and it literally takes 10 minutes to get to a website yet I have dsl and my proccessor is a pent 3 1.25 ghz
and I have 512 megs of ram
How can I fix my internet explorer? HELP!

OMG Now I really messed it up! now it says Need to send"target" or "RPD"!

What version of Explorer are you using? (find out from HELP, ABOUT). And what version of windows?

I have Ie ver. 6 and I have windows 98SE..

IE 6 includes a repair tool, which can diagnose and fix problems. This tool checks for out of date and corrupt files. It may also replace some shortcuts in the start menu that you previously deleted. Follow these instructions;

1. Click START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL and then go to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

2. Select Microsoft IE 6 > ADD/REMOVE

3. Select the option to repair the program and click OK.

4. Reboot the computer when the repair has finished.

This is a total guess but, can you click on Tools > "Reset Web Settings"? (I'm not quite sure what that will do, but it sure seems like it would fix this problem... )

Looks like I was too late to help, but can I make a suggestion anyway?

This is an open source version of Netscape. It's actually a couple versions ahead of the Netscape browser, and it's faster and more stable (at least for me) than IE 6.
