I've got connected to the network, so it seems...I get the welcome text saying:

ONLY fan shot-camcordered ride videos and audio. Please enjoy your stay. Official Website: WWW.WDWResortTV.com - Check daily for latest news! ::~~ ºoº

but can't get anywhere after this...Doing the !files or !rules does not work, and I am unable to chat with anyone either...What am I doing wrong?

Once connected, type !list to see who is serving currently. Then to access a particular server type what is called a trigger as shown in the servers info (eg !dolby) then a pop up should appear - accept this and you`ll be in that server. Type dir to see a list of their directories, and cd ******* to enter that directory, where **** is the name, eg cd EPCOT or cd Horizons , then type dir to list that particular directory. Once you see a file you want, type get ***** where **** is the filename - including suffix .mp3 .wmv etc, but NOT the size, eg 128mb.

Tip - instead of typing everything out highlight what you want (server name, directory, file etc.)by holding the left mouse button and dragging over it, then click on the command line (where you would type at the bottom), and rightclick, then paste.

In addition to Marni's sage advice - if you don't have Invision installed, do so. It makes things a lot easier with a simple click and explore system as well as not timing out after 30 seconds inactivity when you are trying to read what files are available.

I was poor - had to make do with a Dragon32 ;)

At least it wasn`t a Commodore VIC20 or C-16.

Now I am showing my age.
I had a ZX81 before the Dragon - ah the memories of keeping it's momory in place with blu-tac.

Could have been worse and had an oric or Jupiter Ace.

I feel so old.. I owned every computer that Marni mentioned up there.

I started "life" on a Zenith data systems 300 baud terminal signing onto Compuserve. (God it was so horribly expensive back then, even for 300 baud). I bought my first real PC in 1986 I think... Upgraded to 1200, then 2400, then 4800 then eventually to 9600 which I was positive was going to be "just like being there" and the idea of ever owning anything faster than that seemed crazy. 19.2k baud seemed like the holy grail.

At the same time, running a BBS was completely possible with floppy drives and a phone line and less than 1 meg of memory.

<sigh>

The good old days.

Hi Chris..long time no speak! WOW - I havn`t heard of 300 baud for a long long time...

Barnum - how about a TRS-80??!! Commodore PET?? Apricot?? ZX-80?!

I remember seeing my first computer - the PET - at Jacksonvilles Science museum in May 1981. State of the Art. Got back to school and my teacher had just bought a ZX-81. How we all marvelled as it came out of its box. Just look at all the computer symbols on its (useless) keyboard. It MUST be good

Talk about off topic but hey!

My secondary school had a Commodore PET, but I was a year to old to use it, they started Computer Studies the year below me.

If anyone needs help on #DC, give me a PM on there. I'm on it about 12 hours a day keeping up with my server and doing trivia. Also, I know there are a lot of new members everyday, so I try to help them out the best I can.
