DD, takes no prisoners and his name is not Dan, it is Nick. I only point that out because we have a thread going on him as he pushes his body beyond it's natural limits to complete a 500 mile mountain race. Nick will always offer encouragement and I doubt he expects folks to kill it the way he does, it is for him but he will always try and get you to push yourself to your own limits. I find his comments are great motivators.

I'm not sure why I posted Dan, must have had too many thoughst on my mind at that point. Anyways...thanks for the correction. And my apologies to "Duck"/Nick.

Good luck with your long run!

My biggest motivation when training for Disney races is reminding myself that if I arrive undertrained I'll be completely miserable during the race. So I make it my goal to be well-trained enough that I don't really have to worry about being able to complete the distance and can just focus on taking it all in and having a great time. :) We all have off-weeks once in awhile...just get back to it!

I know what you mean about being undertrained. That may be one of the reasons I am training more than what I really need to. I would much rather train with the mindset of a half marathon or longer that way when it comes time to run the 10 miler I know I'll be good to go.

When I first started running I read a book that had a great phrase, "Hay in the Barn". I'm not sure if thats a normal running phrase or just something specific to the book. The more consistently I run the more "hay" I put in the barn so that when I need it on race day, it is there and I can use it.

So here is what I did last week (I did fall off the wagon a little but its a new week)...

Wednesday, the 29th - 3.5 miles

Friday, the 31st - 3.5 miles

Saturday, the 1st - 5 miles (with a lot of yard work right after, does that count?)
