The first/second weeks in October used to be GREAT. The Food and Wine Festival is going on then, but the crowds were still low. The problem now is that schools across the nation are now having a "fall break" in addition to the traditional "spring break". We went after Columbus Day last year and it was much, much more crowded than the year before. All-in-all though, it's still a great time to go, just not nearly as good as it used to be. Wait times are typically in the 15-45 minutes RNRC, SM, and ToT being the worst.

Weekends are pretty bad of late, typical nice weather, the locals come out days.

As for fastpass, i'm not sure i understand how it causes long lines. I use it every time io go toi the park, so i rarely wait in line.

I am a teacher and I never heard of FALL BREAK -- our kids get no Fall Break and are in school for Columbus Day. Kids get enough time off - it is hard enough to keep up with all the new standards when every time you turn around the kids are off for vacation when no real school vacation is planned ---

Typically, everyone went through a queue, so it was first come first serve. The lines moved slowly but continually. When FassPass was introduced, the lines sometimes stop. This happens because with FassPass, you sort of run by and yell.."save me a place!" So eventually, a large group of people show up and get to butt in front.

And some people don't show up during their time, so there is an influx and the CM's let them through. Which slows down the lines even more.

I've gone to WDW the week of Columbus Day Holiday every year for the last 3 in a row. The crowds are very light and the weather is perfect. Enjoy!

October is great except for the last week. The last week is not bad, but there are more people there to attend MNSSHP than the first few weeks. The weather and lines are not a problem in October barring any hurricanes out there, but October is a light month for hurricanes so you take your chances. It is worth it. :)

In case there was any doubt, here's a link to the school district calendar for my country in Florida. This is becoming a trend throughout the country.

I am so glad that is not our schedule -- It is not the breaks and the legit time off - it is the extra absents that hurt - when a child is sick, when a child is taken out for a vacation that does not fall on a break and when a child just stays home.......as I said I never heard of Fall Break because we do not offer one.

Well it could be worse, thanks to call me Tony and his governments constant interfering with families, it is now illegal to take kids out of school for breaks in the UK. If a kid has more than 14 days off, other than Dr confirmed medical, you can get prosecuted. Which is why when you look at holiday brochures now you can see price hikes every school holiday. Wonder how much his party got to fund the election from airlines and travel Co’s

I can confirm FALL BREAK for our schools in Georgia. The week of 3-7 in October and that is when we are going to try and go down as well! I saw Escambia, Fla had the same time off! Where is Escambia located?

Escambia is in the Panhandle. It is the first county in Florida as you're going East on I-10. In other words, it's the farthest you can be from WDW without leaving the state!!
