I have seen people around here say they prefer Dinosaur. Granted not many but I wonder what about Dinosaur they prefer to Indy? The dark “scary” factor?
Yes, the dark scary factor, sound effects that make you feel like you're being chased by a dinosaur, and the fact that I love dinosaurs and animatronics (putting them together makes it even better!).

I'm so excited for you to ride the OG Tower of Terror, which was ALWAYS better than DCA's budget version. I'll be really curious to hear your thoughts.

I have a feeling I will find some redeeming qualities in Dinosaur. I know what I like and it sounds like there might be something there for me.

To be honest I think TOT is probably at least 30% of the reason I’m pulling the trigger this year on the trip. It’s the ride in the most excited to experience. Every year or two WDW loses another classic attraction and I just can’t help but feel like TOTs time may be limited. At least in its current form with the TZ theming. I could see a world where they just leave it as a haunted hotel w/o the TZ references but not sure they could resist the urge to slap some Marvel IP in there. Or another idea - not something I’d necessarily want to see but Haunted Mansion is an IP in its own right. Imagine they kind of expanded the HM universe into the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Anyway, catching Dinosaur before it goes away and RnRc before it gets rethemed are nice bonuses.

My daughter got on Smugglers Run today meaning she’s good to go for Slinky, Kali and 7DMT. 👌

Funny that it took planning this WDW trip to realize there was a new ride she could do at Disneyland. She hated it by the way. lol. I had her and my son be pilots. It was just the four of us in the cockpit: She was so excited in the queue to be going on a new ride but suddenly right before we entered the cockpit it all just felt too real for her: So I had to change my tune from “we’re going to fly the ship” to “it’s a video game.” She was still pretty terrified. Didn’t really see it coming. She’s kind of a thrill seeker- loves roller coasters, the drops on POTC etc. I guess that’s what can happen when a 4 year old thinks they re really flying a ship through outer space. She later on got mad that she wasn’t tall enough to ride Incredicoaster. Go figure.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what Lightning Lane selections this Disneyland vet should make? I’m prioritizing the attractions that interest me most but of course don’t want to waste a selection on an attraction that might average short standby waits.

Mk
1. Space Mountain
2. Haunted Mansion
3. Pirates of the Caribbean

So I’ll probably try to get TBA as my fourth selection. TBA isn’t high on my priority list but want to experience it mostly for the different ride vehicle and see how it’s different from Disneylands.

Epcot
1. Frozen
2. Spaceship Earth
3. Living with the Land

I’m going with Frozen over Ratatouille as my first choice as my daughter is more interested in that and a boat ride in general just sounds more appealing. From what I understand Ratatouille runs out faster than Frozen though? I’ll either wait standby for Ratatouille or try to get it as my 4th selection or any selection later on if available. None of the second tier options for Epcot seem like they have long waits and I’m not interested in Mission Space.

DHS
1. Slinky Dog Dash
2. Tower of Terror
3. Alien Swirling Saucers

Went with @$$ as my third selection as it just looks like a slow loader and the kind of line you want to avoid if you can. Originally had MV3D as my third choice as I was worried about demand being high since till be going away a month after our trip however between it being high capacity and running all day long I think that might be a waste. 5 weeks is still pretty far out from the closing date. TSMM, Star Tours or MMRR aren’t high priority for us but would like to do them if possible to check out the differences. Would it make sense to swap out @$$ with any of these three and just wait standby for it? I’ll be going for RnRc as my 4th selection.

AK
1. Kilimanjaro Safaris
2. Expedition Everest
3. Navi River Journey

Should I swap any of the above out for Dinosaur? It’s lower on my priority list but considering demand might be higher because it’s going away. Or should I just go for it as my 4th selection?

MK Day 2
1. Jungle Cruise
2. Barnstormer
3. It’s a Small World

This one is a little trickier to plan as I assume I’ll get to some of these on my first day at MK. And if that’s the case I’d probably rather get another ride on Space Mountain. Of course I could plan around the fact that I have these selections and just skip them on Day 1 but that limits flexibility later on the trip. Barnstormer is kind of the same thought process as @$$. I’m assuming a slow loading ride that can have among wait. But also because my daughter will enjoy it.

Epcot/ DHS Day 2

1. Ratatouille
2. ?
3. ?

I don’t even know if I need or should I buy Genie + for this day as it might end up being a flex day where we either relax in the morning, go to a water park or hit Must Do attractions (from any park) we may have missed.

Since you need to pick attractions list looks good , in terms of time savings though I would definitely prioritize TBA over POTC . POTC is easy to find a low wait time for but if you have leftover LL book it. Sounds crazy but Make time for Astro orbiter , it’s way different being that high up. Obviously make time for people mover , monsters inc, and COP and country bears just for non DLR attractions.

Epcot - use a LL for LWtL and SSE , many times it’s a short wait but you prob will have a free LL or 2 over multiple days might as well use them. Don’t skip American adventure , well done classic Epcot esp if you appreciate history (nap time for kids)

For your Day 1 at Epcot plans, I would recommend not wasting your LL money on reserving LL for ‘Spaceship Earth’ and ‘Living with The Land’.
Both ARE absolute must dos…and are most certainly Attractions you NEED to experience while visiting.
However, you do not really need to ‘reserve’ these as they are often walk ons later in the day.

SSE is a high capacity loader when operating, and as long as you don’t try to ride during the morning or first half of the day you should be able to walk on after a minimal wait, if any.
‘Living With The Land’ is typically a walk on or at most a 10 minute wait in the later half of the day, especially before the nightly fireworks presentation.

I would suggest you choose ‘Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure’ for a LL choice as it always has a long Standby and LL often runs out as the day progresses.
Use this to your advantage if you feel you must pay for LL.

For your Day 3 at DHS, ‘Alien Swirling Saucers’ is another waste of a LL, in my opinion.
The Attraction uses the same ride system as ‘Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree’ at DCA, and is no ways near as appealing theme wise.
It is another case where it can often be a walk on later in the day.

Your Day 2 at MK, ‘Barnstormer’ is not something you really need a LL for either.

Thanks! Unfortunately TBA is tier 1 so to book it as an advanced selection, I’d have to choose it over Space Mountain or Jungle Cruise.

Astro Orbitor will be closed 😔

Was planning on making time for all the attractions you mentioned except Monsters Inc but if we have time I don’t see why not.

Definitely making time for American Adventure. Very intrigued by that one as I have never seen as much as one video.

Thank you!

I was wondering if my Epcot Tier 2 choices were kind of wasteful and it sounds like they might be? The only thing there really isn’t anything else I’m dying to do as far as tier 2 Epcot attractions. The others that I’m interested in are Figment and Nemo which are also Walk On’s for the most part if I’m not mistaken ?

What would you pick instead of @$$ or Barnstormer if you were me? At Mk by that point I feel like I’ll have pretty much been on everything I want to see aside from maybe some of the flat rides. Maybe HM again? As a DL vet, I wonder if I’ll feel the need to do any non thrill rides more than once.

Apparently ITTBAB is now closing permanently March 17th. So I suppose that's off the table entirely.

Never do a LL for a show.

I doubt Dinosaur will have TOO big of a bump from its closure-especially as there's no official closing date yet, and as it stands it's easily the least popular of the big ticket attractions in WDW.

LWTL and SSE aren't wasteful selections if you do them in the morning.

Just saw that this morning. Bummer but I expected it.

I’m thinking about skipping Mission Space. I’ve heard it’s a claustrophobic nightmare and really not worth it. Is there any reason to do it? Other than being a completionist?

Ok good to know on Dinosuar thank you. I’ll leave it as my 4th selection. Just wanted to be sure as it might be my only day AK.

If using the LL on Navi makes you unable to ride Dinosaur, that would stink. I'd check the wait times on Dinosaur closer to your visit to get a sense of the demand at that point and make the call then. Navi is really meh (cue the bullets from Navi defenders).

I haven't done Mission Space since they got rid of Gary Sinise, and he was one of the good parts of it. I did the Orange Team one time and didn't really feel the Gs or whatever you're supposed to feel, but I did feel a slight pain in my ear later in the day that might be attributable to it. Really not worth it (couldn't they have put Guardians over there instead?).

Toy Story Midway Mania is a complete waste of time—as far as I know the only difference is that there's an indoor queue and an extra track. I could be wrong about that, but I'd spend the time doing something else (ToT) again.

Must dos I would recommend for you as a Disneylander at MK at WDW would be -

Carousel of Progress
The WEDway PeopleMover
Space Mountain
The Haunted Mansion
The Hall of Presidents (if open from refurb while you are here )
Jungle Cruise ( different expereince then DLR..temple is worth it!)
Live stage show presented in front of Cinderella Castle
Festival of Fantasy Parade
Nighttime fireworks show.

Recommendations to do after the ‘must dos’ at MK -

Tom Sawyer Island - last chance to enjoy before it closes forever…unique and NO ‘Pirates’ overlay.
Lilly Belle ( steamboat ) - relaxing and scenic cruise. Enjoy before it closes forever.
Pirates of the Caribbean - solely to experience the ‘lesser’ version.
Enchanted Tales With Belle -neat effects and a charming live presentation.
Mickey’s Philharmagic - the original, with the wide ‘wraparound’ screen!

Regarding Epcot, yes, both ‘JII with Figment’ and ‘Nemo & Friends’ over at the Seas are both typically walk ons.
I so wish you could have experienced the Original ‘Journey Into Imagination’ Attraction.
Alas, it closed in 1998 and was replaced with utter garbage.
A year later they tried again, and we have the current poorly executed version of today.
The Original Attraction was vastly superior in every imaginable way and is sorely missed!

I highly recommend experiencing ‘The American Adventure’ at Epcot.
This stunning and amazing 40 minute Animatronic and film element masterwork is an incredible engineering and storytelling marvel.
Must do.

Yes, I would go for Team Green on ‘Mission Space’.
I find it a fun experience as it is easy to let your imagination run wild and believe you are actually launching into space during the ride.

Team Green is the lesser intense experience, and there is NO spinning or G-force sensations.
If you prefer the thrills of being spun around and getting some G’s then Team Orange may be more your game.
By all means do that version if you wish, but be aware it can affect some people and make them feel dizzy or nauseous.

For me Team Green is just right for me, and a pleasurable experience.
I always will ride it a couple of times when I visit the Park.
As a Disneylander, this will be a new and unique experience for you…

Think of it as a personal version of ‘Star Tours’ in your own little compartment with very subtle shifting and tilting, but none of the sudden shaking, wiggling, and sudden drops.
Pretty tame, but the visuals are neat and like I said, it’s fun to pretend you are really ‘blasting off’…!

Forgot to mention this in my response. But yes, the American Adventure brings me to tears as a proud American. It's stellar. Non-controversial and timeless. Peak Imagineering and storytelling.

Hahah. Good idea on Dinosaur thank you.

Yeah TSMM is not high on the priority list at all. Riding TOT again sounds like a much better use of my time.

Pretty sure I’m going to skip Mission Space. Your ear story is good enough for me Reminds me of when I rode Supreme Scream years ago and got off the the ride hearing this weird vibration in the back of my head when I talked.

I would add Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Winnie the pooh, and Tron to do. Less necessary is Mermaid and Phillarmagic just because they have better settings than their DLR counterparts. At Epcot make sure you get Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s a very fun ride. I also recommend the circle vision shows, they’re cute and a reminder of a bygone era from when Tomorrowland used to have them.
