Out 2016 trip to Disney is booked for a 5 night stay at POR. We stayed there years ago when it was Dixie Landings and we loved it. Since then, we have stayed at the CR (4x) , Poly, WL (2x), AKL and SOG. Now I am thinking about changing our say at POR for an Epcot resort.....BC or YC. Any thoughts? Which of the two is "better" and why? This trip is just for me and my husband. Which is the shorter walk to Epcot. I am leaning toward the YC. Thanks for you thoughts. :cat:

I haven't been to POR since it was Dixie Landings either, but I absolutely love Yacht and Beach Club. My favorite resorts on property with beautiful themes, an amazing pool, easy access to nearby resorts, and yup, walking to EPCOT and HS. Beach Club is closer to EPCOT than Yacht Club, but it isn't significant. The two resorts are essentially connected, Beach Club is just on the side closer to EPCOT.

I'd also add that I've found YC to be less busy, especially in the lobby area of the hotel. BC always seems to have kids/families running around non-stop(Cape May and the Market Place will do that). Not that there is anything wrong with that, but just less of it at YC, especially if you're looking for a relaxing vacation.

In a similar thread, someone mentioned that one of the YC or BC smells like seafood due to the restaurant in the resort. That would be a problem for me since I don't like the smell of seafood.

I've stayed at both YC and BC, and it's a coin flip for me. They really do feel like the same resort to me, but I agree with the points of Yacht feeling a little less busy with fewer young families.

Nice thing about the EPCOT resort area is that you can get to all of those resorts and restaurants easily, so you can enjoy some of the perks of the Boardwalk even when not staying there.

BTW- you have to have a kitchen sink at Beaches n' Cream if you are staying in this area.

BC has the shorter walk to Epcot, and I love staying there. Everyone says YC is better for adults though. I'm trying YC in December.

To me, the YC and BC are really one and the same. It's almost as if it's just one big hotel. I'm sure there are some subtle distinctions between the two, as some in this thread have mentioned, but IMO nothing great enough to make one noticeably superior to the other. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

One difference between YC and BC that just popped into my mind is YC has a great deal more convention goers, if that makes any difference to you.

BC is a shorter walk to Epcot, but the one reason I chose YC over BC when we stayed over there is that at YC, you're pretty much guaranteed a full patio or balcony. At BC, you run the risk of getting one of those faux balconies. Hey- we like a balcony :D That being said, we preferred the vibe, room decor (in pics) and CMs we've met over at BC. It's all personal preference and luck of the draw with CMs at time of stay, but we did not care for YC. If given the choice of all of the Epcot resorts, I'd pick BW. I think I could live in their lobby or outside patio with the wicker furniture. It's also much easier to pop into BW bakery for a massive sticky bun when you're staying right there!

Oh.....I am so tempted to switch from POR to the YC. I called the price difference is $1300. Not sure if I can justify spending that money just because I am ...well.....a Disney Brat. We are going in March to enjoy the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival and the location of the Yacht Club would be so convenient. I am still mulling it over. Thanks for all of your help! :cat:

I'm not familiar with staying at any of the Epcot hotel, but I've visited the boardwalk and loved it!
I stayed at POR a few years ago and did not like it at all...
