I have 2 heavys, 2 Sears, my original 2600A from 1983, a Sunnyvale 4-switch, and a few Taiwan and Hong Kong 4-switches..and a light 6er.
Did I forget anyone?

One thing that I keep hearing is the the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players associated with the 360 and PS3 are not full featured. What exactly does that mean? I know with a standard DVD player I put in a DVD and I can play it, go through the menus, access the extra content etc. Do the DVD players with the consoles only play the movies and lock you out of the rest of the content?

You guys should check out Vimm's Lair. You can download PC emulators and nearly every Nintendo and SNES game in existence and play them on your PC or PDA.

I managed to buy one online at Toys R Us, after my brother notified me of a sale they were having - we logged on at 6am and managed to get one!

No doubt, 360 is the way to go. I have had one since April of 2006, and I could not be happier. My brother in law got a PS3 and he brought it over and we hooked it up to my 65" HDTV, and there was really a huge difference in the looks of the games. We both liked the way the 360 games looked over the PS3. He had the PS3 a few weeks and we traded, just to see what the other was like. He came back 2 days later, packaged up his PS3 and traded it in for a 360.:ROFLOL:
I will admit, I had to send mine back in August due to the red ring of death, but in 10 days there was a brand new 360 delivered with a letter saying Microsoft decided to send me a brand new one as opposed to repairing the one I sent in. I am not sure how much better customer service you could ask for.

After the recommendations from this forum along with some other research it looks like the Xbox 360 is the way to go.
So now it comes down to which version do I get? Should I just throw down and get the Elite or go bottom of the line and get the Arcade?
Game wise I will more than likely start with Halo 3 as the FPS is one of my favorite game types. I do not plan on doing much if any online gaming and it will more than likely only be me playing as my wife and kids do not get into gaming that goes much more in-depth that bejeweled on MSN.
So now it comes down to which version do I get? Should I just throw down and get the Elite or go bottom of the line and get the Arcade?

It was a tough choice for me too. But the key component is exclusives. Which game system carries the exclusives you like?
I loved the idea of the PS3. The hardware is amazing, and it would be nice to have a blueray player. However, I'm not a huge fan of the exclusives on that system, and many of the former exclusives I did like are now out on 360.
The 360 has it's cons too though. Obviously the ring of death (mine is new enough that I shouldn't have that issue) and having to wait for Microsoft to send you a new one should it happen, paying for Xbox Live (though not much) and lack of the futuristic hardware the PS3 carries.
Anywho, I really do enjoy Bioshock and Halo, so Xbox 360 it was for me. I'm so hopelessly addicted to Halo 3 over XBox Live... It's quite sad.

Sure I could, I have just never been into it. I found that I had much more fun adjusting the skill of the bots to match mine.
Anytime I got on-line with games like Rainbow 6 or Unreal tournament all the people were either so much better than me I could not get a shot off or so much worse than me it was like having a god mode cheat on.

The elite 360 version is the way to go if you want more memory. There are so many games for it too. It also is less spendy than a PS3.

But don't forget that the 360 uses TrueSkill and other proprietary skill modes to match you with similar people. Ranked matches will match you with people of a similar or same "Skill Number". Your skill number will change often, based on how you perform. I can honestly say, only in my first two games did I feel overwhelmed. Since then I have always felt like I was playing just the right amount of competition.
That is good to know.
Will it connect through a normal wi-fi connection, providing I get the xbox 360 wireless connector of course, or is there something special I will need to do?
Do you have an opinion you are willing to share on which version I should get?
