Hello WDW fans

My friend and I are planning a 4th of July weekend vacation at Disneyworld. I know the crowds, heat, and wait times will be insane. But, its also my birthday and there is no other place in the world I would rather be than to celebrate at the Magic Kingdom on the 4th of July. With that said - what would be a great touring plan for the Magic Kingdom on the 4th of July? The park shows it will open at 8am and close at 1am. Any and all suggestions will be helpful.

Well out of our 5 Disney vacations,2 have been during the 4th of July..Now this heat your referring to is a godsend for us Scots. We rarely see that golden ball of sunlight that gives us warmth. As far as the wait times. No different than in August..FP whenever possible..And last these crowds you talk about.? Are you referring to the holiday makers having a magical time like yourselfs..Join in the party, that's what we do..P.S. On the 4th,get to MK as soon as possible, make a day of it..If it comes to full capacity..The gates are locked...So go and enjoy your birthday in the most magical land on earth..Make it a day to remember.;)

My sister's birthday is also on the 4th and they are planning on being at MK that day! I have to agree. Get to the park early and don't plan on leaving as the park may reach capacity. I would schedule downtime with meals and/or attractions such as COP or HOP which are usualy no wait, quiet and air conditioned. Don't worry about trying to do everything that day, because you aren't going to be able to. Just take it easy and enjoy what you can do. Drink LOTS of water to stay hydrated. That heat will get to you quick! I've never been over the 4th, but I hear that the fireworks are spectacular that night! I believe they have a limited time magic promotion going that week as well, though it may just be the fireworks.

No
we will be there for the 4th as well!! We have been there on the fourth in the past. i would suggest getting there early not only that day, but any day to beat the heat and crowds. If its only the two fo you, youll be fine. just get FPs for the lines you know will be long and do other things that may not be a overcrowded during the day. Have fun and enjoy your birthday in WDW!

Exactly so. There is also a fireworks show/concert put on by Mulch Sweat & Shears at the Studios for the 4th as well so you do have options. Marie

Thank you for all of the replies :p I have been to WDW at least 10 times in August (most recently in 2011) and am prepared for the heat and crowds. Your replies have given me hope and excitement - our hotel is booked and the tickets are next. We plan to be at the rope well before rope drop and hit the FP and the major rides. We will be in WDW for 3 nights so if we cant do everything on the 4th we can do it again on the 6th. I am thinking we may do HS on the 5th - I have to see Fantasmic! :D

Have fun and dont stress out, you know what you are heading into, just make the best of what you find. A friend of mine went last year, did fine with the crowds because he had planned well in advance, knew what he wanted to accomplish and even though the wait times were ridiculous, he was able to do most of what he wanted. Hydrate well and carry something with you to occupy your time standing in line. Even with FP's planned you will have to wait for many other things.

Since you know it will be hot, humid and wicked crowded, my only tip is to follow a plan from the touringplans people.

And pack a lot of patience. :)

I would go early, and plan to stay all day. I mean - the entire time! :) You don't want to be blocked out due to capacity. My Dad's bday is the 4th. Would love to spend it there some time. :)

Definitely. I have already told him we need to be at the rope by 7am (we are going to sleep at 7pm the night before, lol). And will not leave the park. Now that I know you can get free ice I will load up on that and bring a few snacks to keep my energy and plan a early lunch and late dinner. i am sooo excited. i never imagined i would spend my bday at the magic kingdom - and the nation will celebrate :)
