HELP in a hurry!!!

Okay everyone. I need some last minute help quick!!! We're planning on being in WDW Nov.27-Dec. 2 and I just got finished reading a public forum about the off-site hotel that we were planning on staying at. There were many posts about people finding bugs in not only the rooms but also in the BEDS!!! Now I've been planning this trip for over a year and this kind of new info. is very unnerving at the last minute. So here are the questions:

1) All along we really wanted to stay at AKL but because of what the off-site property was offering with the cost comparisons, we didn't think we could afford it. But now with this new info. I think that comparison is out the window. Since I believe that it is too late to get any kind of 2004 discounts, I think that it sounds like Pop Century sounds like the way to go for us, money wise, based on what everyone on here has to say. Would you agree that this is a better choice than All Star Sports/ASM in quality for the same cost? Does anyone know how to go about possibly getting any of the 2004 discounts that were in effect?

2) While looking at the Disney reservations page they give prices for Standard View room and Preferred View room at Pop Century and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference.

3) And I know that this question has been raised before but I need to ask for myself, If we decide to stay at Pop or any of the other Value resorts, is it better to use Disney transportation to the parks or to drive ourselves?

Thanks again for all of your folks help. This forum has made trip planning so much easier!!!!! I love you guys.

Ahhhhh....... another Disney trip saved from a bad off site hotel. Have a great time goofy for fire.
Hooray!!!! Once you stay in what my son calls a "Mickey Mouse hotel" you will never go back. Be sure to use the wake up calls if you have little ones - they love it! Set it for a time once they are already awake, though (like shortly before you leave the room) and let them answer - too cute.

Have a great trip!

I am a big fan of Disney Transportation, but I found if you have children and a stroller it might be better to drive. I have done it both ways. Last three years we parked the vehicle and never looked back. This year we tried driving and since the parking lots were not crowded we were able to walk to the vehicle without having to shove onto an over crowded bus with two sleeping children and a stroller while standing and being told we have to get 10 more people on the bus (and yes it did happen on this last trip - which was why we decided to drive).

Sorry, it was a nightmare a few of the trips on the bus this way. When the kids are older and we ditch the stroller we will probably go back to the Disney Transportation, but until then, it is easier to take the vehicle.

You will love Pop Century!!! It is the newest of that level and the beds are clean ( No bugs!! UGH!!!) and comfortable. Everything else is still really new and polished so you shouldnt have any rude surprises. I have stayed there twice, once in the 50's section and once in the 70's section and had no problems at all. If you do run into any unforseen surprises, speak to the resort manager. I have heard of a problem here and there in the Disney resorts and almost without exception the manager has worked to make it right for the Guests!!! Let us know how your trip turns out!!! Belle

Thank You sooooo much!!!!!

Just a word of thanks to everyone who has given input. Like I said in the original post, I have been watching this website for the past year and pretty much heeding everyone's advice. That is, except for the off-property hotel which now seems to have been a big mistake. I am relieved to know that I can get information from Disney veterans that I can believe.

I want to say a special "thank you" to Pam at Kingdom Konsultant who, with one short and simple phone call, had me feeling so much better about getting to WDW in a good mood. She will definitely get my recommendation in the future.

I will let you know how our trip goes, and thanks again to everyone.

only 12 more days!!!!!!!:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

If anyone cares to know, the current bus/car comparison from Pop Century is as such:

The Disney Bus system is (on average, including waiting to for the bus/walking to the car) faster ONLY to Magic Kingdom, while taking your own car is faster to all other major parks. (Unofficial Guide 2005 doesn't lie! Hey that rhymes!)

You are very welcome! You will get spoiled staying on property and turn into a crazed Disney fanatic like the rest of us...
Let us know all about the trip. I'm happy that you will not be with the "bugs"...
