Heres what I have ...
This is just a few beginning statements taken from the Guinness Rockopedia, which was published in 1998...I hope it helps!
"The rise of The Beatles in 1963 was the most spectacular event in popular music since the birth of Rock "N" Roll a decade before. Within a year they achieved two feats previously deemed impossible; surpassing the fame and success of Rock's premiere idol, Elvis Presley, and thrusting British Pop to worldwide attention. In the seven years between their first chart-toppers and their split in 1970, The Beatles changed the course of Pop and Rock, leaving a body of work rarely rivalled for quality, originality and as subsequent generations discovered- durability. Their influence on 60's culture was incalculable and passing decades have seen their legacy undiminished, continuing to inspire musicians of every genre."

I have read several books on the Beatles, and in my humble opinion, I just love their music. They were new and different for their time, and the songs are easy to sing along to and relate to, and besides, they were quite the young hotties back in the day!
