Height Restrictions

happy holidays!! My countdown is already at 8 days! We are getting so excited! I am curious about how strict disney is with the 40 inch height requirements? ...my daughter will be 39.5 inches with thick soled sneakers and she is a daredevil! I would love to be able to take her on some of the 40 inch rides, but do not want to waste my time trying if we will be turned away because she is just shy of the height limit.

I am not 100% positive this is the correct place to start this thread, but I did not see any other appropriate places to find such info.

good luck.. hopefully she'll have a growth spurt this week!! lol

I would assume somewhere like guest relations you could have someone measure her and then you'll know whether to go for it or not. This is a total guess.. but I would hope they would have something like that.. or a CM outside a ride so you don't wait in line and then get turned away.
It's been too long since I've been.. don't remember how it's done.

I may have the same issue.. my daughter is Exactly 40 in barefoot.. so hopefully the shoes give us any boost we may need if I measure differently than them. LOL My other is 41.5... so we're just gonna make it! LOL

Find a pair of lifts, slip them on before you get in line(out of site of the heightmaster) take them out of the shoe when the ride is over, this worked for us about 3yrs ago for our son.

Another thing to consider as a former CM I have witnessed many many times when 1 CM would not allow a kid on a ride because of height, and a minute or 2 later another CM would not even measure the kid and let them ride.I'd guess it's about a 50/50 chance, some take it very seriously, others (within reason)don't.

Pssssst....roll up some socks and stick 'em in the heels of her shoes. Or buy some platformers (ala KISS). Just a thought.

Flame on! :fork:

They are very strict with it. If the child does not meet the requirement they can not ride.

Hmmm, not always. On our last trip, much to our surprise, our (then) 3 year old DD LOVED Goofy's Barnstormer. So we decided to see if she was tall enought for BTMRR. (we had no idea if she was or not). So she and I walked up to the CM near the measuring stick, she stood in front of it, and.... not even close. In fact, he stuck his hand between the top of her head and the measuring line. Oh, well, we thought. Next time. We turned to walk away, but to our complete shock, he waved us through. She must've rode 10 times that trip. Not one CM turned her away. Then, on our last day, she gets up the courage to try Splash, and.... yup, CM says no. *puts on flame retardant suit* We waited until that one left, and the next CM let her on.

The greeter (CM) at rides with height restrictions will be the one responsible for measuring your child's height and deciding whether or not she is tall enough. That eliminates wasting your time waiting in line for things she can't ride.

Good luck - and here's hoping for real fast growth spurt!

Have a great trip.

They are strict and for a good reason and they do stop and measure if it is close. I have seen it a ton of times.
My kids have always been super tall for their age so we never had to deal with the height issue (DS was tall enough for BTMR at 3, with Dad's arm tightly wrapped around him) It scared me to death once I realized how rough it was(for a 3 year, but he loved it and then again he is 6'0 now at 12 and it still scares me on Everest & RnRC, not to mention DD at 5'0, so maybe that is an overprotective Mom thing with me)
I wouldn't fudge but that is me, just be prepared to be measured.
Hope you have a great trip.
