Sunday, con't
The hunt was on for Em's desired purchase. She had received a custom Epcot tee which she wanted to pair with some colorful patterned shorts. You female readers can probably guess what store we went to.
Pat yourself on the back if you said Lilly Pulitzer.
Lilly Pulitzer is like Garanimals for grown-ups. Coordinating, bright beachy colors and fun patterns that scream casual sophistication. Last summer all Em could afford was a Lilly sunglasses strap. Since then, she's been saving for a splurge. She found the perfect pair of shorts....which you will see later in the TR.
Meanwhile (for readers unfamiliar with LP) we just Lillyfied some of our MagicBands.
Cute, huh!! How many of you are now coveting our bands? Be honest.....
We browsed a few other stores before coming across this guy:
The Strolling Piano Man!
You know those Roomba vacuums? This piano was a giant-sized Roomba. It moved slowly around in back-and-forth and side-to-side motions. The piano was novel ~ the pianist, not so much. First he tried to channel his inner Billy Joel by singing "
Piano Man" and then switched over to Elton John's
"Your Song."
His voice was AWFUL. (Wish you'd heard it,
@bee.) He should have stuck with merely playing the keys.
We found this next entertainer much more enjoyable.
We watched unsuspecting guests pose with this "living" statue. He was very discreet and oh so clever.
Our plan was to stop at Ghirardelli's before boating back home. Every table was occupied and the line was OUT THE DOOR. Scratch that!
The captain announced the boat would be stopping at both POFQ and POR. Em remembered we'd had sundaes at POR before, so we decided to simply stay on the boat. The boat stopped at POFQ first and most people got off. Just as the captain was about to unhook the anchor rope, two women stood up and asked: "Is this the West Side?" (Another entry for your book,
@Doc Disney!)
"West Side?" the captain repeated.
The confused women nodded.
"No, this is Port Orleans French Quarter. You're on the wrong boat. You need to get off and take the bus back to Disney Springs. It will be faster than staying on my boat."
Faster??!! Does this captain expect two women (who were not even smart enough to board the correct boat) to find their way around French Quarter....in the dark, mind you....and locate the bus stop? Then wait who-knows-how-long for a Disney Springs bus?
The women got off the boat. I would love to know how the rest of their evening played out.
Here's how the rest of our evening played out.
Em and I shared a delicious hot fudge sundae. Cookie Monster had a chocolate chip cookie.
Not a whole can of whipped cream, but a very generous portion!
We leisurely strolled along the Sassagoula back to POFQ. We could hear....but not see....the fireworks from Illuminations. Torture for me!!!!
We went to bed at a reasonable hour, excited to awaken to another day of Disney fun.
Would it be fun for Woody? Stay tuned.
