Hearing WDW Park Music in Places that aren't WDW

So I was at our local Theme Park Kings Island near Cincinnati last weekend and as I was walking through the kids section of the park that is themed to Peanuts I heard the music from the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Parade playing over the speakers. I was kind of surprised to hear a song that I had just assumed was Disney's playing in another park. So has anyone else heard any park music played in other places that have nothing to do with WDW?

Can't say that I have. Well, obviously we hear BTTF and The Music Man music in other places, but something uniquely Disney...I don't think so. I know they play Illuminations in Customs or Immigration or something.

I heard the original Journey Into Imagination pavilion loop at the Sawgrass Mall in Sunrise, Fl.
At first I though I was going crazy, but then I realized that it was really the old loop. After that "One little spark" and "Makin' Memories" was stuck in my head for hours.

Also need to remember that Disney "borrows" a lot of music, too.

They pay to use songs... take for instance both the old and new opening tracks for Illuminations:RoE.
There are over a dozen songs from outside artists that are in those pre-shows.

Part of the Illuminations music plays in Immigration at JFK when they're playing the "American Diversity" video (not sure what the official name is, but that's what I've taken to calling it)

Disney also uses VMK music in ads occasionally

Forget which year it was, maybe 2005...mid 2000s ...somewhere in there...
The famous annual July 4th Boston Fireworks presentation used a segment from EPCOTs Illuminations soundtrack.
It was quite a surprise...and neat.
This was broadcast on tv, radio, and probably online too.
Made this EPCOT fan geek out in a good way.

I think a few days after the show i had read here that the person who did the pyro presentation for the city that year had also worked on creating some of the pyro shows for WDW.
So it made sense he slipped in a little *tribute* to his past works..

Meh. It happens. As long as the other parks pay for the rights to use the song, Disney is A-OK with it.

Hence why you will hear "It's a Small World" anywhere and everywhere.

It depends on what music it is. Anything from the background loops in the park, you shouldn't be hearing anywhere else.

Like others have pointed out, a lot of the "world" music in EPCOT is brought in from the outside. Look up the pre-Illuminations loops on google and you can see who performed the piece and you can then subsequently go to amazon or wherever and buy the music on the artists cd, not Disney's.

Also as others have pointed out, as people go to these other parks and hear the music, if they report it back to Disney or word gets around, Disney can proceed with the court orders and such, or force royalties and other things on them.

This is the battle that most of us face who listen to live365. As people pay to listen to this "free" streaming site, we get reminded all to often of the royalties that the company has to pay to broadcast the music they do, hence why Disney stations for us free listeners are being made VIP only (and it's just not the Disney stations).

I'm not a music copyright lawyer, but that has to be an interesting field for sure.
