I love the article in the OP says Robin Thicke was not happy with the way she was acting either and that was not what they rehearsed.

I hope they didn't rehearse it that way he is what 35, 36? and she is 20? Yikes, talk inappropriate.

I don't think it will hurt Disney but this poor girl's reputation is shot. Although I don't think young stars today care. When Annette Funicello left Disney and did the "beach blanket" movies Walt asked her not to wear a bikini and she never did out of respect for him. I don't think young stars have much respect for anybody including themselves today, which is a shame.

Heading for the great escape.
slapper behaves like a slapper, why the shock and headlines? Im sure things have panned out just as her publicist planned. Besides over here its being reported sum what less puritanically.

Oh, Lindsay. That girl needs someone to care about her, get her committed and on meds.

I worry that it will end badly for Lindsay.

I don't think it necessarily hurt Disney's brand because there is more to Disney than just Disney Channel and its stars. (Those who think Disney Channel is what solely defines Disney are very shortsighted.) In fact, I don't recognize Disney Channel as being part of Disney in my book. But as everyone has stated, Disney in the headline is to sell more papers or gain more views online. Here's an article that is worth reading if you need to know the simple question of why child stars go out of control these days, written by Mara Wilson, a former child star who turned out fine.

I don't think Miley's antics are going to affect Disney in any way. They tossed the trash to the curb long enough ago. And Miley has distanced herself from Disney/Hannah Montana for some time.

The girl is screaming for attention. Her efforts are very misguided. If you want boys' attention you don't go sleeping around because it draws the WRONG attention. If you want fame and notoriety you don't go prancing around acting like a flaming 'ho because, again, it's the WRONG attention. A young lady will never gain respect for poor behavior. She needs parents and guidance. Obviously.

I hope Robin Thicke is ed at her. He should be. She made a mockery of his performance with her antics. He's worked in the industry many years to get where he is. He shouldn't have that brought down on any level by some confused young girl who has no respect for herself.

I'm no Lady Gaga fan -believe me- but at the very least her theatrics have some sort of purpose or thought behind them. Miley's little 'ho show continues to be much like a small child screaming "Look at me! Look at ME!!!" Except we don't want to look at her because it's just gross. I'm ashamed FOR her.

Totally off-topic but I have to say it, as a girl who's watched the VMAs most years since it's very beginning I found this year's show to be rather shallow. It lacked any sort of diversity or variety. We saw a pop/hip-hop show. Yay for the bubble-gummers. They "awarded" the Best Rock Video during the pre-show while absolutely none of the nominees were even present. Then, a little while later, the winners showed up and the guy who read the award was like, "OH! You've already won tonight!" Seriously? I'd have turned around and left. Why stay at that point? To see the pop show? Meh. It's just not my thing. Found the lack of variety of performances extremely disappointing. Only saving grace is that Justin won Video of the Year for Mirrors. I'm not a Justin fan or anything like that but I did see the video online when it was released because of an article about it. The video was moving, emotional, and had soul. Well deserved, IMO. Not that I see many videos nowadays, keep up with the latest, and even know who the performers are anymore. I guess I'm officially reaching "old". LOL!

first...I'm very sorry for reminding everyone of this filth that was on TV the other night... but this headline got my attention

"Did the VMA's hurt the Disney brand?" - look at all the child stars that have been in trouble before... sure a few of them started at Disney...but I think it's hard to make a connection that Miley's ummm...performance (and I use that term very loosely) hurt Disney in anyway.

When she left Hanna Montana she became a total mess...and last I checked is not tied to Disney now...but reporters still make the connection. So why do things like this still show up in the headlines?

Every time a "past" Disney star gets into trouble or there's a sinkhole in Florida... the word "DISNEY" always pops into the headlines.

Is it simply because this (like it did to me) gets people attention or sells more newspapers? ugh...

what are your thoughts? Does this stuff annoy you all too (not just the performance but the word "Disney" in every headline whether it's associated directly or not)

Echh its just big business corporate news. All they want to do is grab peoples attention so that they can go link to their site and get more traffic. They'll make any vague connection, especially entertainment news.

Did amanda bines hurt viacom?

Although many people are dumb enough to think of miley as disney "property" she is a human being like anyone and has the same right to be stupid as we have. I never thought celebrity personal lives was really anyone else's business either. To me its a sad way to get worked up when your life is really uneventful. Same way I felt about reality tv. For me I have so much business of my own I don't need to stress about other people's stupid life choices.

That being said, fame seems to corrupt every child/teen star. It always confused me why though. I know It wouldn't corrupt me I have no interest in pardon my words, acting like a harlot and doing drugs and drinking my liver to pieces. Maybe i'm missing something but this excess culture doesn't appeal to me at all. Its also so obvious that its a downward spiral its like a bad plot full of repeated stories with such predictable paths. Miley Britney Lindsay Amanda its the same story again and again and again Its so boring. They all wind up making themselves look like garbage literally and somehow think this makes people envy them when they're just becoming clowns for the media circus. Besides that look on her, sorry hun, its not working for you. Its like trying to be punk but coming off spoiled brat.

This is even kind of happening to Justin Bieber but like His deal is being a jerk and not knowing anything at all about anything. Kinda like the rich 14 year old "gangsta" you find in gated communities if you dropped him in a ghetto. But with body guards.

However im very shocked that this didn't happen with the Jonas Brothers. I admit I used to crush on them big time untile they changed their hair and started dressing like it was 1959. I literally have no idea where they are now but they didnt seem to have very assertive personalities. I feel like this will be the same for 1D
