Headed for the Hoop dee doo!

Hello all

We are off on an 8 day trip to WDW starting Feb 1 and after reading all the wonderful reviews on this site of the Hoop dee doo I decided to make reservatoins. We got tickets for 6 on Tuesday night for the 7:15 show because my first choice of Monday at that time was sold out. I am wondering if there are seats that aren't so good since we booked so late. I would hate to spend $200+ to find out that the kids can't see or appreciate the show.

Also I looked this show up in the unofficial guide and they really panned it. I know that book is really hard on lots of things there at WDW. We went 1 and half years ago and I read the guide from front to back and disagreed with many things they said. I for one enjoyed the food there MUCH more than I expected to.

Anyway... glad I found this site and thanks for any advice you all can pass along about the revue.

I booked the Hoop Dee Doo for a visit back in Oct. 2001. There were only two of us and we booked well in advance, but we still managed to sit on the second level, right on the corner, with a post partially obstructing our view. We made the best of it and had a blast anyways. To answer your question though I wouldn't worry too much about your seats, you will have a great time. Oh, and have a great trip!!!!

I didn't think there was a bad seat in the house. Make sure that you have the kids listen for the stage coach to pull up outside after you get seated. I think that the larger parties are seated on the main floor, but I could be wrong. You will enjoy it immensely! My husband absolutely loves it!

I was sitting in those seats around that time too...I might've seen you there.

But, yes...those aren't the best seats...but if you have never been to the Hoop Dee Doo, I can honestly tell you, it's one of the best (if not the best) dinner shows that Disney has to offer.

The only thing I don't really like about it is the wait outside...it's like you have to wait in a line...to then wait in a line...to then wait in a line...to then wait in a line...then to enter (get it? )

(unless it's changed since Oct. 2001)

You call and make reservations ahead of time.
You wait in line to check in and pick up a voucher at the window.
Then...
You wait in another line to verify that your whole party is together.
Then...
You wait in another line to get your photo done
Then...
You wait in line to enter.

(Oh...and my favorite "State" that they rhyme is Massachusetts (not just because I'm from Mass...but...just think of a certain word that rhymes with mASS) (don't worry...the censor it)

First, welcome to the boards Melora  . We have done the HDD several times. Each time was a great experience and each time we have wanted to return. I can say that I have been only with groups of 6-8, and we have always sat on the floor. I have yet to sit on the upper level, but from what I remember they don't really have bad tables. The cast interacts with the guests and quite often will come out into the audience...so everyone can see what is going on. The food is great and the staff is very accomodating. I had a special dietary request (vegetarian) and they were more than accomodating. I think in fact I had the best meal at the table. So Disney does everything to make their food and shows the best. I have only found one restaurant on property and no shows I didn't care for. The HDD is the most popular and sells out quickly...that right there should reassure any doubts you have. Have a wonderful trip and make sure to tell us how you liked the show.

The Hoop De Doo was something I always went to. I went so often I even recognized the actors. The girl who played Flora, had to be there 10 years or so. I wonder if she still has the role?
One time, my father-in-law got picked to be the angel, and we almost p'd on ourselves with laughter. It was truly priceless. Unfortunately, affording the price is our problem with 3 kids, however if I ever get to make an 'adults only' trip, I will definitely try to get there again.
I even bought the recipe book so I could duplicate the ribs!

You'll have a great time! It's so much fun and the food is delicious!! We sat up stairs on the stool chairs that swivel(sp?) and we had a great view and don't worry cause the actors/actresses come upstairs too!! It is so much fun though!

Hi Mitzer -

Just out of curiosity - what did they give you for the vegetarian option? I am going in October and have put in a request for a veg meal, (and have to call a week before to follow up) but am not sure what to expect...

Thanks!!

I was picked to be the "Sheriff" when I was little...and my cousin was the "dancin' girl"

Well I am not a "vegetarian" by choice. I had always eaten there and had the normal meal. Several years ago, I found out I had a condition that is bothered by solid meats...so I didn't know what to expect either. I called the HDD office and spoke to a chef. He asked me when I was coming and what I liked to eat...what my dietary restrictions were. I listed all different types of fruits and vegetables. When I sat down, they knew exactly where I was...they brought approx. 6-8 different vegetables and a salad with things I could eat. The vegs were red potatoes (boiled), carrots, asparagus, cauliflower, mushrooms...oh can't remember them all. Enough for two or three people. Then when dessert came, they brought me a fruit platter...not plate, platter. It had pineapple, strawberries, grapes, apples, oranges, asst melon, pears, and a swan made from an apple to decorate the plate. My table opted with sharing the platter for dessert. There was 8 of us. I had literarily so much food, we passed the veggies around so everyone could try some. It was huge, but the best food I have had there. And...the tables near by, you could tell they would have like to be at my table :animwink: . Hope this helps. If you need anything else, you can PM me or just ask. I have done the vegetarian thing all over the resort. There are many that are very accomodating....and I have done the sugar free desserts also (diabetic), so I can help you there too. Have a great experience, you will love the food.

Yep that was the best trip. My family and mom & Pam's family and mom...what fun. I think it made the show even better. It is always great to share it with a good, close friend. And I think that made the food that much better too. :animwink:
