Having some bus anxiety...

I am planning on a trip over Memorial Day weekend with some friends, and we are planning to stay mostly at the resorts and just relax--we're not even sure we'll do the parks. We have made PS all over the world. Here's my concern--I have heard that it takes at least an hour or 90 minutes to get from one resort to another using the bus system. Is this true? Should we have rented a car?

Our ressies are at AKL and CBR, and our PS are at Ohana, GF, Boma, and Spoodles. Any advice?

In my experience with "Resort Hopping," it can take a while to get around. Remember that the busses don't go from resort to resort. You have to go from a resort to a park or DTD and then catch a bus to the resort you want to hang out at.

You can be creative with your routes, use the Blizzard Beach stop to your advantage, it's on the Animal Kingdom side and many busses go straight there. Take the bus from your resort to the waterpark and go from there! That might save you some time during the day.

Renting a car may be helpful, you can go straight there, but it's extra money too! Also remember, that if you're enjoying adult beverages, you might want to depend on the busses! They've saved me many times (AKL has some strong wine).

Honestly, if I were you, I'd skip the rental and just take the busses. It might take you some time, but if you're in a hurry, grab a cab. You may hav to drop $10-$15 for a one way trip, but you can come back whenever on the bus, or go anywhere!

Just my thoughts!

I have to agree with Crazydaveh. I'd take the buses. Yes, it can take a little while to get to a resort from a resort, but knowing that ahead of time and planning for it is half the battle already won. :sohappy: I've been to WDW alot and I honestly can't complain about the bus system. Sure, there have been a few times when I've felt like I've been waiting forever, but usually the buses are very quick and efficient. Also, for me, I really enjoy the relaxation of not having to drive anywhere. I drive every day to work or the store or whatever - it's just so nice not getting behind the wheel of a car while in WDW. That just adds to the magic for me. :)

Oh you'll be fine by bus. For Ohana & the GF, just hop the bus to the MK and then hop the resort monorail.

Because of teh way traffic is around here, you'll be glad you dont have a car

For farther away resorts, I'd recommend taking a Downtown Disney bus to the main bus depot there, and hop on the correct resort bus (the operative word being "correct". I learned that the hard way...)
"Why does Coronado Springs have an A-frame design?"

Parking

It has been my experience that the security at many of these resorts will not allow you to park there unless you stay there. They will tell you that the restruants at these resorts are for guests of that resort only.

I have never had that problem and I have never been a resort guest. Security either wave me through or at the most check my ID and issue me with a free three hour parking permit - though I suspect they don't time them as I spent four hours enjoying Animal Kingdom Lodge without any problem.

In resoponse to the 90 min.... Depending upon where you're eating, you can always take a bus to the TTC and transfer or plan to be a nearby park so you can easily get to your meal destination (eg: spend the day at EPCOT and walk to the Boardwalk or other International gateway hotels) from there you can get a bus back to any park or the TTC.

anything is possible!
