So my fiance and I are watching TV and I tell her that when our baby is born we can take it to WDW to get a hair cut.

Then the following conversation took place:

Her: You know when we go to WDW this year, it'll be the last time you get to go as an adult.

Me: What do you mean?

Her: Well, after the baby's born we'll be doing all kids stuff.

Me: Babe. I never go to Disney as an adult. That's what Disney is all about.

Well...I do agree somewhat with her. There is a change....

Once you have a kid, you go for your kids...not yourself. While disney is made for adults to enjoy with their children(Walt's intent), there should be a change in what you do when you bring children IMO. I hate seeing children constantly changing arms for all the child swaps. You're there for your children at that point, not so you can ride all the latest thrill rides.

Just my 2 cents

I understand you, but what I am saying is I dont go to WDW just for the thril rides. I like the "kiddie stuff" too. :D

I'll be the frist one WITHOUT a kid waiting in line for Dumbo or to see Mickey. LOL

No matter how many times you've gone there as an adult; the first time you go with your child is something you will always remember. You will experience the Magic through your child's eyes.

When your time comes, you will see what I mean.

I don't go only for my child. Now don't get me wrong. The expressions on my son's face and his experiences at WDW are priceless to me and I'll always treasure them. But, darn it, I'm going for me, too! :)

When we go to WDW, we go as a family. This is probably easier to do with an older child (never went until my son was 11), but we have an agreement that this is a vacation for both of us and that we will have to do things the other isn't always crazy about. It's a trade-off.

BTW, head mouse, congrats on the wee one!! :sohappy:

i think he'll be fine. my nephew will be three and we'll have grandma and grandpa (who adore them both) tagging along. we were supposed to go tis past summer but someone (my wife) decided to have my son and screwed it all up:lol:

Oh I agree, it will be fine. I just don't think its the ideal age for a first visit.

yeah, i would wait if i was more patient but im not. i have accepted the fact that i will take the blame if its turns out bad. but hey a bad day in WDW is better than a good day away right?

Heading for the great escape.
I go for me and my good lady, we take the kids, and on occassion go without them.

Apart from toon town I cant see what difference a sprog would make or did make to my touring plans, apart from kiddy swap :) (mind you we tried and nobody wanted to swap with us) :drevil:

We took both our children to Disney World as early as 6 months old. In those "baby years" we certainly weren't taking them so to maximize their experience. We were going because we wanted to go. We became vets of the baby swap. Its interesting, because both my sons were great "tourists" as babies. They were not bothered by big crowds and loud noises. My oldest son, who is now 13, is especially proud that his WDW track record started at an early age.

If you want to take your kids when they are that young, realize that you have to adapt to their needs, but that the trip is not really going to be about them.

I know just what you mean! When we first brought our sons, it was the first time for the parents as well. They were 4 and 2 1/2 and have not had a problem since then. Gone every year since 97, and one year I asked them if they would ever get tired of WDW, no thought at all, NO!! I still see the wonder thru their eyes. And this Nov we will see it thru our niece and nephew, as well as their parents, so we get to have a first time visit.... AGAIN!! 23 days and counting till our 3rd visit this year!! CAN'T WAIT CAN'T WAIT!!!!! :sohappy: :sohappy:

We weren't going to go to WDW until the kids were older, but they have been so good on our DLP trips (my eldest went 1st time at 3 months old), and it is now cheaper to go and stay at AKL then go to DLP we are going to try it. For us, just being there is cool. The attractions are a bonus. But the looks on their faces, the photos and the memories are priceless!

During our last trip, we had a 4-year old during part of the time we were there. Everything the 4-year old wanted to go on, I wanted to do the same as well! We went on Dumbo, Snow White, Pooh, Peter Pan... etc... etc. Took pictures with the princesses and the characters.... etc.. etc. The only thing I could not do with her was the Jr. Chef thing at The Land, even though I badly wanted to.

So I understand fully well the feeling of being a kid at WDW. I never want that to change (and probably won't since we don't plan on having kids! We'll just adopt our friends' kids for a couple of hours.) :)
