Nice! Good for Southwest, rubbing the other airlines noses in the new fees. I wish they serviced my area so I could give them my business.

Although I've flown Southwest before and was not particulary impressed, they will most likely get our business for our trip. They touted a "no-frills" service so they could keep their fares low. Who would have guessed that they now will become one of the few, if any, airlines to offer free services. Passengers will flock to them in droves.

They were the only major airline to take a gamble and lock in their fuel costs for a three year period. None of the other airlines decided to do that. Looks like they made a good decision!

I love their commercial where the flight attendant is making the announcements including listing the fees for blankets, pillows, beverages, bathroom, and just to push the button for assistance. Perfect.

I dislike the cattle call that Southwest uses for their boarding process but I truly appreciate their willingness to be straight-shooters with their customers. I'd still consider flying with them. Well, especially after our fun flight attendant on our last trip with them. We had a pretty bouncy landing with a hard smack-down, a bounce up in the air, then a second touch-down. She gets on the PA and says "Well, we're in Houston in case you couldn't already tell. Stay seated with your seatbelts securely fastened until Captain Kangaroo bounces us on up to the gate!" LOL!

I don't ask much of an airline, they don't have to give me food or drink I can always bring my own....all I want is a fair rate, and to get there safe and sound.

This is the only thing we dislike about Southwest. On our way back last year, none of us got to sit together because of the A, B, C seating arrangement. Had to do with when you got to check-in, we just weren't in a hurry to leave so we checked-in later than most and got put into the C category.

Here is a tip....print your boarding pass out 24 hours before you leave.....the hotel (at least I know Disney hotels do this) they will print your boarding pass out for you.

Their boarding procedure has changed a bit now - you get a letter and number on your boarding pass. So for instance if you have A18, the when they call for "A" boarding, the 17 people before you will board (in order). It's better than standing around in those corral things.
I love Southwest!

You can even go to Customer Service in the park and they will do it for you. We were in MK the day before we left last December and so at 12:30 24 hours before our flight the CM printed off our boarding passes.

Thank you for sharing this, I didn't know that! Definitely going to utilize this on the next trip. I'm a nervous flier and I hated not being able to sit by my mother, for her to keep me calm. Yes I'm 25 years old and still need my mother to do these sorts of things. :lookaroun

Yahoo for Southwest! Fly them 99% of the time whenever we go away. Best fares especially to MCO. New seating system is better but honestly, I would rather print my boarding pass 24 hours from the time of my flight and pay a lower fare. The new seating system is not that bad. The resorts at WDW will print your boarding pass and we found out in May so will guest relations at the parks. Just have your confirmation number. Only complaint is that they do not participate in ME on the return flights home. Love the ads. They had the hindsight to lock in fuel price for 4 or 5 years. Smart business savy. :sohappy:

I don't get the "doesn't participate with ME for the return flight." Does this mean you can't use ME for the return flight or that you can use ME to get to the airport, but you have to take your luggage with you?

We always fly SW to Orlando. Not a lot of leg room, but it's a short flight. Their fares actually have gone up quite a bit over the past year. Last summer, I paid $118 roundtrip per person. This summer, I paid $208 per person roundtrip. Still, cheaper than other airlines. And with the no charge for baggage "benefit", it's still worth it.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with SW when their fuel contract ends, which I believe it is due to do soon. I don't believe SW will be able to compete with other airlines if they charge the same prices. The only real draw to SW is their price.
