Changed resorts, now going to Boardwalk in late October:sohappy: (were booked @ POFQ, stayed there MANY times and love it). Has anyone ever been given a free upgrade (like to concierge). If so, how did you get it?:veryconfuThanks, and have a magical day:king:

I've received free upgrades over the years, I'm glad to say.

Got upgraded from a woods view to a courtyard view and from a standard view to a woods view at the Wilderness Lodge before. Don't know why on either case (didn't ask for it and wasn't told I was getting it ~ I was just given those room numbers at check-in).

I got upgraded from the All-Star Music to Port Orleans-FQ once also. I never was told why on that one either. I had a very late arrival (like 1 am) and was asked if I wished to upgrade to a different resort. I certainly didn't pass on the offer.

I've also had upgrades, for a fee, a couple times. I wanted a different room type and asked for availability at check-in.

I went from a courtyard view at the Wilderness Lodge to a concierge room for an additional $140 per night. Not really a bargain since that is the difference in rack rates anyway but it was on an AP discounted room.

Also received a concierge upgrade at the Polynesian once. The story on that one is I was dissatisfied with the location of my lagoon view room (near the monorail) and went back to the front desk. I asked if there was something available in the Tahiti building. The CM offered me a concierge room, as I was informed that the concierge rooms had been relocated to that building due to a refurbishment, for $80 per night. I accepted the offer for my seven night stay. My bonus came when I got the folio at check-out and the cm had only charged me $80 for one night total. Woo hoo!

It just seems to be a matter of being at the right place at the right time for surprise upgrades at no charge. They seem to use that when they are booked on a specific guests' room type or requests.

Once I reserved the 2 cheapest rooms I could at the WL and when I checked in, we were given 2 rooms directly off the lobby, 5th floor, looking straight at the courtyard and lake. It was wonderful and ranks up there with my best room experience ever.

When we booked a standard room at the Poly in 2004, we already had a great rate from an AP discount. Checking in, DH asked where our room would be. The CM showed us the map and said, "We have rooms here, here and here." And then he let us pick which building out of those three. We wound up with a room right across from the volcano pool at no extra charge! :)

If you ask, you probably won't (and shouldn't) get it.

Upgrades are usually offered, not requested; if you want a better room, you need to pay for it.

For our 1995 stay at the Poly, DH went to the check-in desk with cold, hard cash in hand (gasp!) The CM was new on the job and had never done a transaction that wasn't plastic. An hour and 2 managers later, we were escorted to our 1st floor lagoon view room with patio seating to watch the MK fireworks and the nighttime floating parade (I had booked a standard room). We hit the parks and when we came back for dinner, there was this HUGE tray of chocolate dipped fresh fruit (I can still taste the pineapple chunks) along with the note from the CM thanking us for out patience while cheking in. Of course, I'm sure it helped that we didn't get testy with the poor girl. After 17 hours of driving, we were just glad to be on Disney property!!!:D

I styed at the contemp.. and we had a room that was in the building off the side by the parking lot not in the tower... they up graded us to a tower room for the night but if we wanted to stay in the tower we would of had to pay more money witch sucks bc they up graded not us...
