Have you ever made a lasting friendship at WDW?

I'm going to say almost... then it turned weird. We Disneymooned at the Beach Club and over a few nights we kept seeing the same couple, like 5 or so years older than us in or around the hot tub. We talked each night and it was pretty cool... until...

the guys wife casually placed her hand on my thigh (and left it there) in the hot tub and well, DW didn't like that one bit

but in all honesty, my wife and I are always willing to meet people off here and stuff. We live in a small town, nothing to do and well, it gets boring lol

You know what....if they'd had an arm rest in the hot tub, that never would have happened! I tried apologizing, but she just wouldn't have it!!

I have several close friends that I have never see outside of WDW, but all have been a result of this site. I have never struck up a friendship from a chance meeting in a park.
I think a meet up would be cool! I've heard of big ones they do on this site, right? I'd be a little nervous having my boys there I think though, but I guess if everyone has their kids there, that probably removes that panic, huh? Lol

Could have been a lot worse if the wife's man placed his hand on yer thigh. and started singing in your ear," Some day my prince will come. " ;)

It is kind of hit or miss with kids. Some people have them with them, some don't, but their presence has never been an issue that I have seen. The first meet I did with WDWMagic was in September of 2005. It was just the wife and I so we could kind of survey the battlefield from afar and come in when and if we wanted to. To this day, I still regularly converse with about 90% of the people I met that day. One of them, @wannabeBelle, is one of my best friends on the planet.

I have done a few other meets since then and the friend list just keeps growing.

Anyway, this year whilst having a margarita in La Cava (my DW and DS were shopping in the Mexican bit)this 6 ft buxom blonde asked what I was drinking,so I told her it was a jalapeño margarita. She smiled and said," bet it's not as hot as me." Well Iam not usually lost for words but I knocked it back ( the drink )and was out there quicker than Speedy Gonzalez.

No but I did run into someone I was in Vietnam with, we were both in line with our families at the Main Street Bakery, we stared at one another for over a minute and than both of us said "Phu Bai" at the same time.

Ohmygoodness he was amazing!! Best Peter i'd seen by far. And his story with "carebear" Wendy is sooo sweet :)

A few years back we met a couple from the Chicago area and exchanged email addresses with them but not sure if my wife has stayed in contact with them or not.

No, it's several videos posted by several different users of a very good Peter Pan that worked there in DL for a while, people called him Speiling Peter, but his real name is Andrew Ducote, and there he met a girl who played Wendy and so on.. Just look up Speiling Peter, Speiling Peter and Wendy, Speiling Peter and Carebear Wendy, and/or Andrew Ducote. Their story is just so....Magical! Lol

Spieling Peter was the BEST! I was sad to see him go.:(

yep,
My DW and I met a waiter at The Kona Cafe, one year. The next year we were lucky enough to have him again. Then we started requesting him. That has since blossomed into a great friendship. We make sure to stop and see him even several times during our trip.

Brunette in her 40s?

Brunette in early 30's I recall :) but could be 40's lol

We met her because I tried the Minute Maid lemon juice stuff and said that it must be pure lemon as it was so strong and she overheard me and started laughing and said it wasn't and it is pure sugar and artificial stuff :/ and the next day she was on he ice cream station and she remembered us and gave us huge ice creams :)

Met a great couple seated at our dinner table on a Disney cruise back in 2007. We've been friends ever since and even have taken some cruises together. Cool people!

I have a few really good friends I met during my college program, does that count? I did it in '08 and still keep in touch regularly with them. But actually meet someone IN the parks, no.
