Certainly, everyone here who isn't already a CM must have fantasized about becoming a Disney cast member at least once. In fact, my Disney Team has the tradition of discussing this matter every time we visit the parks. The conversation is always predictable, but it's repeated every trip all the same. Tragically, not everyone can work at Walt Disney World. Some of us are reluctant to part with family and friends to move to Orlando; others have conflicting career pathways. As for myself, I have a beard. This prevents me from crossing the (unjust!) clean-shaven barrier of Disney employment. My sister is equally frustrated. Not because she has a beard, but because she is still young and trapped miles away from Orlando.
Fortunately, we have found a remedy for our dilemma. We have become fake cast members.
See, here's what we do. On the day when we visit MGM Studios, we always try to coordinate what we're wearing such that we match, and we're dressed somewhat outlandishly (on one occasion, we brought berets with us, heh). Whenever we're on Sunset Boulevard in MGM Studios, we wait around for a while until we hear the song, "Stompin' at the Savoy*." Then, we instantly spring into action, dancing around the Boulevard, stunning onlookers with our talent and beautiful choreography! ... Actually, it's all improvised, and we have absolutely no dancing talent. I'm especially clumsy. But we eventually attract an audience nevertheless! Sometimes, a group will join my family and friends who were already watching the 'show'. And once it's over, we sometimes manage to get an applause from the audience (again, with assistance from our people who are standing among them).

I feel a little guilty for actually convincing these people that they're watching an 'official' Disney show -- it's so horrible and ridiculous, it might cause them to lose faith in Disney. My mom overheard the following conversation ...
Kid: "Come on, let's watch the show!"
Parent: "Uhh, no. We don't have time for that."
One time, there was a bystander whom we absolutely couldn't fool: an actual Disney cast member. Dressed as a 30s fan girl, she approached us and said, "Ohhh, it's Fwed Astaiih and Ginger Ro-gers! I'm your biggest faan! Is this for a mo-vie?" She was quite a character, and it was nice to see some official recognition for our 'work'.
* You may wonder, "Why 'Stompin' at the Savoy'?" Our performance is inspired by a Steve Martin act on Saturday Night Live.
