Have any storms stopped you from going to Disney World?

Our power is still out from Friday night's storm, along with hundreds of thousands of other people's. There were still fallen trees blocking lanes on major roads 2 days after the storm. We had a lot of branches down, and a large tree came down one house over. It pulled power lines down with it, and started a fire that burned itself out after a minute or so.
I'm glad all is well. it has been crazy, but THANK GOD we're safe!:)

Wow Bethymouse, I was just thinking about this because we had a storm this past Friday in Ohio with the straight line winds that had our power out until tonight and downed a couple trees with a load of clean up. I thought what if we had a cruise or another vacation planned....would we make all attempts to go or not? Horrible thought but it crosses my mind every time our next vacation gets closer.

I've never worried about weather in Florida as much as weather in our hometown. When we lived in the NYC area, I worried that winter weather would keep us grounded the one time we went in January. It turned out to be milder back home that week than it was in Florida. No trouble at all. However, last year we were set to fly home on October 29th and a freak snowstorm in the northeast canceled our flight. We ended up staying at Disney World an extra two days.

Now that we live in Montana, I'm a little concerned that snow here could more easily affect our usual late October/early November travel dates. We'll see. I doubt we'll use trip insurance, though.

Ha! What a coincidence! I was flying down to WDW on Oct. 31 that year, and almost had to cancel our trip because that freak snowstorm took out our power...luckily, it came back on Oct 30 and we were able to travel.

oh man this brings back a horrible memory from my childhood. When I was around 5 or 6 my family decided to go to WDW and back then we go by taking US-441S to US-192E. (less traffic back then, Turnpike is a MUST now!) Well we we got to Leesburg and it was raining hard and my parents stopped at a gas station and decided to turn back for home, I cried like there was no tomorrow xD. That gas station is gone now I always wanted to burn it down :D. So yea a storm has stopped me but not by my choosing.

Oh dear! The weather is so incredibly unpredictable these days! It would be a nightmare @ the airports or train. Even driving might be a challenge. I would still make an effort to go on vacation though unless it was humanly impossible!

I remember that weird snow storm! It was the only "snow day" we had! What a crazy winter w/ no snow here in eastern panhandle of WV.
Extra 2 days! Yay!:D

It's kinda the opposite for me. I would actually plan a trip to WDW if a big storm was going to hit. I guess it's because I live in south Florida, and I could just drive there and back whenever I wanted. It's just so much more fun and exciting for me and my friends when there's pouring rain and lightning out. I remember when a tropical storm hit, or maybe it was just the outer bands of the storm, and we were running around Fantasyland and Tomorrowland like lunatics. It was creepy and fun at the same time. :D Yeah, we're weird.
Ha Ha! I did the same thing running around FL - guess I'm weird too! LOL.;)

We were there in 2000 I think with hurricane Fred. Just a lot of rain, but it never stopped us. We even had drinks at the outdoor bar at POLY! Then in 2009 we just had a blast with a storm at the POLY for spirit of aloha. Show cancelled and free ponchos. Best part of the night was running in the rain. Kids had fun as well as us parents.

No way weather is stopping me, as long as my plane can land. Weather is not altering my mental therapy. I'll take a poncho filled day at WDW over beatiful skies at home any day ! And I only purchase the insurance in case of some family emergency or I got injured at work.
My hubby says, " A rainy day @ WDW is better than a sunny day @ work!".;)

We were in WDW when hurricane Frances hit in sept 2004. The parks were closed for a day, and we had to stay in our room.

A few years ago the east coast was hit with 2 or 3 hurricanes one right after the other practically. We had to postpone our trip by a couple of weeks because of the expected conditions of central Florida...still got to go thankfully, just had to wait a bit longer. We had purchased tickets for MNSCHP and had to have tickets reissued for a different date. But in true Disney fashion, it was no biggie.

We thought we were not going to make it to WDW mid August last year. Hurricane Irene was moving up the coast and we were really worried our flight would get cancelled. We flew out of Rochester, NY, no problem and arrived safely in Orlando. The next day the storm continued straight up the coast and caused some severe weather back home. Funny how those things happen.
