have any interesting ride breakdowns ever happened to you?

Once on Splash Mountain (DL) my wife and I were looking out onto the park right before the first drop when our Log stopped. We looked around and a CM had to evacuate our log and we were walked all through the mountain to get to the bottom. It was a cool experience, we never found out why it was actually stopped but they gave us free fastpasses so we rode it later on that night. :D

Tee Hee Hee....so yesterday 6/19/05 We were at MK with a family we know (their first day of vacation) I was trying soooo hard to make it special for them. I talked to a Stage manager at Cinderellabrations and got us arranged to see a hosw (it takes some doing for us to see that show since my daughter and I are both photosensitive and heat can trigger seizures in her) anyway, we were all set for the 4:30 show. We had almost 50 minutes to kill so we went to ride the TTA. We go round once and decide to stay on for another round.....BIG MISTAKE We get halfway through the ride and we stop right over the track to the Speedway (as far from the location of our wheelchairs as possible) we sit for 25 minutes and get the dreaded announcement.....Please remain in your vehicles a host will be with you momentarily...sigh...They come up to get us, Andrew can carry MJ off the ride, but there is no way I can make the two flights of stairs....They get a rgular wheelchair, but I point out that there is no way the walkway is wide enough for one and besides that doesn't solve the stair issue.....so what do they have to do? Call the Reedy Creek Fire/Rescue Team to get me off the silly ride, sigh...how embarrassing. So we missed our date with Cinderellabrations (we'll try again next weekend) OTOH, the CM's gave me a stack of fastpasses (which I can't use because we have the GAC) so I got to give them to the family we were with to use during their vacation! The funniest part is that we are so well known around WDW that Leads and coordinators kept asking if we had heard what happened with the TTA and I had to look at them and say "That was me!" They all had a good laugh about it and I did too, after I was done having a panic attack that is! LOL

I also have some amazing magic moments to report, but I'll put those in another thread....

Spiderman (UOA)...
Colossus (6flags Magic Mountain)
Airbus A310 (United Airlines, 30 minutes after take off an exploded engine)

They all really upset me at that moment...

I didn't think IASW could get stopped, I thought it was free floating or whatever. I thought at the entrance/exit was the only place. Same as POTC, but there also at the top of the waterfall.

IASW and PotC work on the principle of underwater jets to propel the boats forward (IASW is all on one level) - the jets stop, the boats finally do too.

When Horizons reopened after its long hibernation, they invited CM's to come in at 5am to test ride it to retrain the new CM's. At 5am, me and a bunch of Horizons die hards stood outside as the music ramped up for the first time in years. We rode it over and over again (most of the animatronics were naked and much of the ride was in huge disrepair) they kept doing E-stops to retrain on evacuation procedures. It was a huge maze back there. The cars opened from the back. It was a great morning.

I have a couple actually..

I was on Splash and the ride stopped right before a drop (not THE DROP) ..I think it's the one going into the laughing place. And the lights came on and we saw ladders and stuff...it was kinda neat.

Then on Haunted Mansion we got stuck going up the steps toward the ballroom. It was funny b/c it was completely dark...and my friends were terrified...it's fun though when you stop on a ride..it's not planned..I like things like that..:animwink:

Sounds like fun! lol

Mt wife and I got escorted on Splash Mountain when it broke down. Our log was stuck just after the main drop where you get splashed by the small water sprays, kept us cool while we waited. We were then escorted off via the behind the scenes areas, very interesting to see it all.

I went through all of snow white's scary adventure with the lights on.
Right before the final doors opened back to the station the lights went off.

I was stuck on Splash Mountain during Mickey's Halloween Party in 2000. It wasnt the best time i had. I missed the fireworks. It was werid because the music was turned off...but the animals kept moving. We were under the possums (sp?) and they kept making "clicking" noises whenever they opened and closed their mouths...and it was just weird.

I have been stuck on Splash Mountain (right before the slippin falls drop, and on the finial lift hill). But when I was there in Oct I got stuck on Dinosaur, it was right before the last Dinosaur. It was pitch black, and all I heard was that loud roar over, and over. That was pretty scary

This didn't happen to me, but my cousin was on the Stage Coach Ride at Disney Land when the horses bolted and ran away with the Stage Coach Ride. It overturned and was D/C after that. My cousin did not sue....just proud to be on the last run of the ride.

I experienced a "ride breakdown" on Who Wants to be a Millionnaire (sic!).... In the middle of the game, the computer crashed... It took a good 10 minutes to get the game back online, during that time the host was trying to keep us entertain with anecdotes about WDW and the game...

For instance she asked "do you know what Regis keep in his mug?"... Somebody in the audience shouted "JACK DANIELS!"...

Anyone ever been evacuated from Horizons? Now that WAS strange - since you rode side on, the evac doors were in the backrests - you exited out the back of the Omnimover, onto an escape walkway that ran behind (or parallel to) the ride path.

I would've loved that.

Test Track had a malfuction while I was on it once. When we got outside the car was going painfully slow. You don't realize how steep that curve is around the front until you're crawling through it. I was practically hanging out of the vehicle. We got loaded onto the next car.

Never had to be evacuated from a ride. :(

got stuck on test track 3 times... once in the heat chamber, once in the cold chamber, and once just outside the acid chameber, each for a good five minutes, and they didn't turn off the heat/cold chambers......

i broke buzz lightyear once, at the end where your not supposed to be able to turn anymore, and my joystick didn't disable and i almost went backwards into the unload area. they had to restart the ride and everyones scores were erased.

i got stuck for 2 minutes at most on ToT in the fifth dimension. i think they were loading really fast and we had to wait for another elevator.

i have only gotten stuck on a few rides and i have never had to get out of the ride car........ once i was stuck in the hm in the graveyard.... that was fun

once right before we were about to go up the conveyor belt up to the big drop we got stuck right underneath the vultures............... they repeat themselves almost every 5 minutes and we were stuck on it for bout 45 minutes.

once on the old ride dreamflight or whatever its last name was before it closed... i honeslty cant remeber. there was the one room with the movie that played little cartoon clips of planes.... and when i got right to the middle the ride stopped.... and we got to watch the same movie over and over..... for bout 20 minutes.... and all i have to say is thank god for air conditioning.

I've had waaaaay too many of these experiences to count. They don't happen too often, but I've been to WDW enough times to have done quite a few. A couple stick out to me though:
Once Mom and my brother were on Splash Mountain several years ago and it stopped... at the very top of the large hill. For about 15 minutes. My brother wouldn't go back on THAT for a few years.
The only time I've ever had to walk out of an attraction, however, was on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This was the most recent trip, and as usual I was attempting to see exactly how many times I can ride that in a single month (WOOT WOOT!). So this was number 10 (?) out of 43 (believe it). Just as we were going down the final hill all of the lights come on (this was at night) and we stopped on the final brake, just before the last turn into station. For about 15 minutes we were just sitting there talking, Brandon (who hates BTMRR) about ready to wring my neck. In time, cast members came by and let us out. As we were walking out, I suddenly get an idea, bend down, and
TOUCH THETRACK!!!!!
WOOT WOOTEN McWOOTY WOOT!
:D :D :D :D
I will never forget that. So anywho, they give us anytime use fastpasses at the exit (for those of you who know about my FP collection, I just kept them for souveniers) and my brother spends half the trip trying to say that that didn't count as a whole ride.

BTW, I forgot. I also do the "tap the back of the doom buggy" trick. It was something that my Dad started so he could scare Mom. The trick works best when done on part of a group of high school girls... you can just hear the screams travel down the line, getting louder as they go! :fork:
