HAUNTED TIKI MUG

I'm surprised this thread has caught on around here. Usually merchandise threads are pretty ignored. I guess if it has to do with drinking everyone is on board. Someone needs to start a thread about the Cove Bar. I bet it would go on for years!

In 15 years of regular DCA-ing, I've never been to the Cove Bar. The line is always stupidly long and I usually have booze on hand anyway (don't look at me like that).

You really need to go and experience the lobster nachos. They are pretty amazing. Also, the last time I was there they let me put my name in and texted me when a table was available, so that hacks the line.

I was over at DCA yesterday to check out what was being offered for the 'AP Days' promotion.
Stopped over to Stage 12 which had a button give away, bottled water, and a character greeting.

There was a little seasonal decor around, and in one area was a visual spread promoting the various 'Halloween Time' offerings, primarily the various food and drink options around the Resort.
I had to kind of chuckle when I saw the Haunted Tiki Mug still included within the line up as it was already long gone and sold out by that point.

That picture included in the display should have been removed, in my opinion.
It was just creating excitement in people who later on would be be disappointed to discover it had already sold out.

Tour guide Barbie: [Arriving in the Toy Car with the Other Toys] And this is the Buzz Lightyear aisle. Back in 1995, short-sighted retailers did not order enough dolls to meet demand.

Disney doesn't learn from it's own movies. I guarantee, the next run of these mugs will be marked up 30-40% and no one will want them then.

good :) Maybe there will be a few less of the crazy bids of ebay for them!
I doubt it will help much except just give legit fans and ebay sharks another chance, unfortunately. If they haven't changed their methods for selling them it's just gonna be another super quick buy. Like @SSG was saying, people were very clearly using tricks to buy out stock and it doesn't seem like additional measures have been taken.

I think it's just cause the HM Tiki mugs are just really really cool. I normally am whatever on Disney merch but even if I was in the park on that single day it was available I'd have been vying for one.

Yeah, advertising the no stock left mugs is a horrible move and is just going to lead to more disappointment. In this era of ebay, limited edition as in limited quantity just doesn't work anymore. If they want to drive up demand on these items they can have them be a limited time thing but the quantity demanded just needs to be met and everyone within that time frame willing to shell out the money needs to have access to one, period.

If they're so insistent on keeping these in the park exclusive then they need to have people be able to fill out an order form to be eventually shipped to their address and pay right there. If Disney does that then they have an exact quantity to manufacture at the end of the buy period and they won't be manufacturing any more than they need to and they get to sell the quantity demanded. Everybody wins.

Looking at ebay, the completed auctions are showing a range of sales for this from $35-$360. Most seem to be around the $150-$250 range for ONE MUG!!!!

The Disneyana is insane!

We've gotten in there a couple of times during off season with no wait...but that's been quite awhile. We're fine going to Wine Country Trattoria and sitting on the patio.

Any new news for these coming back to DLR? WDW just got theirs this week and the waits have been very long as well. Blogger city based on the pics I saw.

There is some Twitter meltdown from people ticked off that WDW will be closed because of the hurricane, so they can't get the mug. Priorities.

I hear Six Flags did some contract work for DARPA when they built HAARP to control the weather. Now they are using it to shut down WDW.

Any chance your buddy can hold one for me too? lol I'm kidding, actually I'm not. I'll be there on the 16th most likely.
I can ask. Even though he's worked at the hotel for 20 years, he doesn't know anyone at the bar. He's going to go over and see what can be done, I'll see if he can have them hold 2.

I wonder if it is cast members that sell the majority of these on ebay. They just use their employee discount and take home a case or two.
