Haunted Mansion WRONG!

Um... you guys think we might be overanalyzing this a bit? I agree with some of you who say it's a lot simpler than we're making it.

I'm not sure about the scream changing pitch, but whether it's from a guest or the corpse, I don't think is really an issue. It's just there for effect in my opinion. Adding a woman's scream at the flash of lightning hightens to the element of surprise.

I'm also surprised that some of you familiar with the ride have never even thought to look up. I'll have to tell my friends, "Look at the ceiling," when we go.

I can count the days on one hand now!!!!! WHOO!

On my bf's first ride on HM, when we got in the stretching room I told him to keep looking up, otherwise I think a lot of first-timers miss it. -Stephanie

I've always seen something up there, but I've never known what it was. I would look at it and think "Ya know that's probably important, maybe I should ask what it is... Nah, it's probably nothin." Is it weird that I have that conversation in my head?:hammer:

I agree that some of us are over analyzing. but it's fun to hear some of the opions that others have about the back story of the ride.

ooo HM my favorite subject b/c i know anything and everything this is like my study of intrest and has been since i was 4 years old. the stretching room is always missing its many points at this time in the story master gracey (the one hanging himself) is alone and that is why he kills himself. the scream is female everyone knows master gracey is the hung person the scream is said to be emily lilan (his wifes) madame leota from the glassball(his mistress) or his mother whom is sitting on top of a gravestone marked gracey senior (picture in the streching room) or maybe its just supose to be one of us. well if there is anyone questions about stories or what have you or how many people are still like me protesting the movie because its so wrong and you like to share anything or want anymore info let me know.

the guy hanging above you is the ghost host, not master Gracey ( at least that was intended by the original imagineers) there was never a original story with " Master Gracey". This story evolved from a tombstone outside which is placed there for Yale Gracey the imagineer who came up with a majority of the effects on the hm. so the man hanging is the ghost host there is no master gracey or his bride. this all came from the movie not the ride. never was it intended for it to be Gracey manor or such this all came from a little rumore the cms and guests came up with. and this is all official info, i found it in a book " the haunted mansion, from the magic kingdom to the movies" it has the story behind all effects secrets building of the rides ( all 4) plus stuff you have prbly never noticed before on the hm.

I guess you were sleeping on the ride, the Bride is in the ATTIC and she appears at the end saying "Come Back....." and as far as master Gracey is concerned, if you read the Bokk that has Ministories about the Hanunted Mansion, there is a story about Master Gracey, The ride has many stories from when it was a concept. One story has to do with an old sailor, matter of fact, if you look at the walls as soon as you are in the Doom Buggies, you cn see his portrait on the wall (the wall where the pictures eyes are folloeing you. Also if you can get your hands on the book published about the ride and the movie, it also breaks down all the versions/stories/concepts for he ride.

Also the tombstone in front of the house does refer to him as the master of the house.

The heads that pop up are ZOMBIES and originally screamed louder. That effect was put in the ride for the scare factor. The book explains that when the decision was made to go with its current story line...it would be part funny and part scary.

I also remember when he stretching room went dark (thunder and lightning) while the paintings were stretching. The lights went out as Gracey said, "there's always my way" So as you were watching and waiting to see the pictures final outcome, you were already looking up so that you will see the body. When the lights came back on the full icture would be exposed and people would get a chuckle then go on the ride.

So, you've studied the HM since you were 4? Does that explain what you were doing during punctuation lessons? :brick:

why can't my way indicate death in general and not indicate this is my body hanging?

it seems open to interpretation and not a given like so many people think.

also, i believe the thud comes from the CM slamming the control panel shut, it is not part of the ride system.

I know I stomp on the floor when you see his body, I saw a CM do it before, and I have done it ever since. I have also seen CM's hit he wall that you exit out of for a similar thud noise.

Grammar Lessons with Kyle:

A period ends most sentences.

A comma joins two independent clauses or items in a list together.

A semicolon joins two independent clauses that are inter-related.

A colon allows for the attachment of a list or a clause defining something preceding the colon.

A dash (--) does pretty much anything you want it too--use it if you don't know what else to use.

A capital letter follows every period, but not a comma, semicolon, colon, or dash.

Two spaces follow every period and colon, one space follows a comma or semicolon, and no spaces surround the dash.

Please print this out for future postings. We all will be getting an A+ in grammar by the end of the year...I can FEEL it! Oooh...I didn't even get into the exclamation point or the question mark...maybe next time...OR THE "..."!:king:

Example:

I like dogs; they are the best animals: they like to play, don't ask for more than food and a bit of attention, and don't get sick of you--what more could you want? Exactly.

The Ghost Host is NOT Master Gracey.
There is no official WDI story to the Mansion at this point. It is simply a loose collection of scenes, narrated by the Ghost Host.

Over the years, people have taken the name from the tombstone, and come up with a story. It's not official, and that is not a ring in the cement, either. But, hey, it's fun to think of a story.

Early in development there WAS a story to the ride (Capt. Gore, the Blood family, etc.), but that changed when the team of Imagineers was switched in the 1960s. The version today is without a coherent story.

Phantom Manor, however, DOES have a story you can follow.

But if both sorta have the same scenes, can't you kinda consider the same storyline?

And I know there's no OFFICIAL story, but I like to think of the work of the Mansion CMs as official. This is a great site based on those stories.
And just as a curiosity for you to ponder: during Traditions, when introducing the attraction to us, our "teacher" mentioned the Master Gracey, bride and wedding ring storyline as the Mansion's tale.

yes yes yes.... the ghost host is not master gracey.yale gracey was an imagineer not the owner of the house. the reason for it saying " master gracey" is just to remember him a form of well like a monument to those who know he was a lead imagineer in the hm project. also about the little bride at the end is the same person as the lady in the crystal ball. madame leota as many refer to her. leota tombes ( yes that is her name) was another imagineer in the hm project. they refer to the little bride as "little leota"

Microsoft Word is wrong more than it is right. Most good writing would set of that useless grammar check written by computer geeks who have never written a good essay in their lives. Have you ever tried to read one of their "user manuals"? Horrible writing.

I agree with you. I was mainly joking :D

I hate MS Word at times. And I strongly agree with you about there manuals. I wouldn't be surprised if in the manual for the next edition we see something like:

"DA paperklip iz de funie hewlper guy dat hewlps u with ur probwlems. Knot dat ull finde anie withe owr grate softeware ^_^"

I think I hurt myself
