hey guys.
my family and i are going to disney on aug 26- sept 2 and we were sorta let down that the haunted mansion was going to be in referb. for the whole summer.
when the new and improved POTC was in referb they were gunna open it after we left but then they allowed a soft opening, we were very happy about that!

my question is, Is there any hope for my family and i to see our beloved mansion at our stay? like another soft opening??

thanks!
(sry if this has been disscussed b4)

I don't mean to sound rude, but this has already been disscussed in the many Haunted Mansion threads. From what I understand, no one knows, but to my best guess, you will not be able to experience this attraction on your trip. Based upon the information from our "insiders", the mansion could still be under construction up until opening day.

Probably not, that is almost a month before the work was expected to be finished, and most projects run later than expected.

Yea, my family & I are going August 31-September 10, & i'm extremely disappointed about this aswell. Oh well, lets just hope that when they do re-open it, it'll be better then it was before.

That is a bummer. I've had a couple of vacations where a favorite ride was scheduled to open the day or day after I left. I've yet to see one open early or have soft openings. I think they keep them closed for as short a time as possible and use every minute they have to get the job done. I was hoping for Splash Mountain to get done early last January but I got dissapointed again.
Like it was said above, you just have to look forward to how nice it will be when you return! I know I am. That poor thing was showing all her years the last trip.

Usually on cleanup and maintenance refurbs, the best you'd get would be a partial-day opening on the last day it's scheduled to be closed. But often it doesn't open until it's scheduled to (and in some cases, it's pushed back).

The "soft openings" of things opening "early" are usually the brand new attractions (or majorly over-hauled ones like Seas) that need to give the CMs some shake-down time with actual Guests.

And that would seem like the absolute drop dead deadline. What's a Halloween party without a haunted house?

The Mansion will open, come heck or high water, for the first party - you can absolutely be assured of that (even if they have to cover unfinished stuff with drop cloths, LOL). I'll be there (staying for a few weeks to do the last P&P and the first MNSSHP) and am looking forward to it.

As to a "soft opening", I really highly doubt it. If they have any extra time at the end I'm sure they will use it for something. "Soft openings" are really not done for the benefit of the guests, but because they need to test something or gauge guest reaction. This, like IASW, is a refurb and not a new attraction (even though there will be new effects), and I highly doubt it will require much live guest testing.

If it happens, great - but I really wouldn't plan on the sucker being open before the posted date. Just a recipie for dissapointment.

AEfx, who hopes there is a snazzy new "reopening" pin like they had for IASW
