Haunted Mansion skipping audio?

Not quite; although both sets of tape bins were in the DACS room in MK Computer Central (and possibly near each other), they did run off different machines. IASW ran off 4 tape machines - all in sync for that ride. The HM would need a different timing, so would use dedicated machines.

This is true, in the past however. There is no tape any longer, to the best of my knowledge. On one Backstage Magic tour I took, we actually went into DACS and Parade Control as part of the tour (I'd pay anything to spend 8 hours in there now!!). All of the attractions' audio are played via computers. They're racks of digital audio generators, and you can actually push a button on the front of each one that will play the audio on that card - we witnessed this.

There was ONE tape bin in the room, the old Country Bears bin-loop, sitting right next to the new Country Bear computer cabinet - for comparison. Pretty cool. So, as you say, IASW and HM are indeed broadcast from seperate machines - they're just computers and not tape :)

I think that it is on a per doom buggy basis. I went on the attraction three times during my last trip and didn't experience the problem more than once.

ok, i have no fracking clue where i got that idea about the tapes then... fuzzy memories filtered through a thousand message boards compounded by millions of facts of Disney trivia

that or i'm just getting old and senile

I was there in May, I didn't notice any skipping but I did find it hard to hear at times.
(also found out what the chicken exit looks like when they herded us all out for unknown reasons.)
It could stand a rehab, what's a little time away if it comes back better :sohappy:
and I maybe wrong but it seems that PoTC was down in 2000 (spring break time) when I was there, so I think it could wait a liitle while longer...
unless of course they are adding Capt Jack or Will  in which case I may never leave. :animwink:

Yes it happens.... A LOT. When it gets really out of hand we call up for some technical help, but usually we just kinda let thinks go, and hope no one says anything. ( ) this is just one reason I think HM deserves a good refurbishment.

I can say that the doom buggy I was in on Friday was skipping, and then just stopped all together while leaving the attic scene and before "little Leota." I didn't realize it at first, because I was enjoying all the graveyard sounds that normally you don't hear.

Yes, a rehab would be very good. I hope they put in the effects that Disneyland has and more, and fix the audio and stuff. Something that I don't like that they do is cram everyone into the stretching room and then the stretcing starts and the doors are still open. It is so crowded in there that you can't enjoy the nice "pre-show".

I think that HM is in worse shape than SM or PotC, so hope that it will get the attention first.

I remember reading somewhere that PotC and HM are both due for rehab real soon and that PotC would go under first.

But, like I said, I read it, so it really means nada...nil...zilch. So.. :zipit:

Yeah, things randomly go wrong during the day, and we can't get it fixed until closing (unless its something serious, then we stop letting people in) It could definatly use some new technologies

I just got back yesterday and I rode it twice in a row and later that day. I didnt notice anything, although twards the end of the ride I did notice a part where it said"...WILL FOLLOW YOU HOME". and thats it and I was like what the heck. but then it said again... "AND A GHOST WILL FOLLOW YOU HOME" although that could have been a technical difficulty because I only heard it once out of the three times I rode it. So if it was skipping a lot, they must have fixed it before I got there.

The last few times I rode I noticed that the audio was horrible! Sometimes it skipped, sometimes it was too low, sometimes it even sounded static-ky. I find myself having to put my ear right next to the speaker to hear whats going on..it's a good thing I have the whole spiel memorized :hammer: ...but that's not the point! You can't experience "the magic" when your doom buggy sounds like there is a transmission from mars coming thru the speaker!

Is there a website that someone can post that actually has the narraration for the whole ride? That would be pretty cool...

I don't know...but check doombuggies.com they would probably have it and they also have a lot of great info and back-stories about the haunted mansions.

There have been at least a few posts I've seen recently regarding the HM audio skipping. Has anyone ridden it recently twice in a row and experienced the same skips at the same points? Does it vary per Doom Buggy?
Has anyone recently ridden it with no problem? Is anyone in the know here how the audio is synched to your particular DoomBuggy? Are the audio tracks digital at this point? What is their source?
I know this is like 20 questions, but our oldest daughter has been 'dying' (ha ha) to see this attraction for the first time. I'd hate to have it be down for a rehab if it's that bad in early October when we're going.

All I know is that the HM audio is absolutely awful right now. The other week I was at the MK and noticed how bad the audio has gotten in a few rides. CBJ, COP, and HM are all terrible. My brother said that they need to work up a sponsorship deal with Bose or something because it's gotten embarassing...
