This is true, in the past however. There is no tape any longer, to the best of my knowledge. On one Backstage Magic tour I took, we actually went into DACS and Parade Control as part of the tour (I'd pay anything to spend 8 hours in there now!!). All of the attractions' audio are played via computers. They're racks of digital audio generators, and you can actually push a button on the front of each one that will play the audio on that card - we witnessed this.
There was ONE tape bin in the room, the old Country Bears bin-loop, sitting right next to the new Country Bear computer cabinet - for comparison. Pretty cool. So, as you say, IASW and HM are indeed broadcast from seperate machines - they're just computers and not tape
