Haunted Mansion Question

I always get turned around by the stretching room, I know you enter on one side and exit the other, but I've always wanted to know for sure which wall opens so I could stand near it and beat the crowd to my Doom Buggy. Somebody told me the exit is always under the picture of the lady with the pink parasol over the alligator. Is this true?

It's easier than that -- There are two loading rooms.

If you enter the room to your right, stay against the wall to your left when you enter.

If you enter the room to your left, stay against the wall to your right when you enter.

You will also see a small red blinking light about 80% of the way up the "seem" to the invisible door frame.

I've ridden the ride so many times I have never ever missed the correct place to stand in the stretch room to avoid the crush of humanity racing toward the doombuggy queu.

What you heard is true. It always the lady with the pink parasol.

As far as the layout question if you can draw out two octagons connected by a square you have the layout for the Florida mansion. The four lines coming out from the corners of the square would be the two exits and entrances to the rooms. The interiors of the rooms are identical just turned 180 degrees

Actually, I'd suggest that on your next visit to the Mansion you try the exact opposite, and stand at the opposite end of the room from the exit door.

First, it allows the flood of people from the room to make their way out into the transition hallway, and you can stay in the relative calm at the back of the pack. (This also gives you a few extra moments to soak in the atmosphere of the hallway and loading area)

And second, if you stay in the Stretching Room a little longer, you get to hear a little bit more audio that most people miss because they've rushed ahead. (I'd suggest standing in the exit doorway so that you can be clear of the room when the CM has to let the door shut)

Absolutely. If you manage to slowly cross the room when its empty, hit the `dead center` youll hear the audio in full effect...

"Get out! He he he he"

Just smile politely to the CM waiting for you to leave. Most of them understand what yuo are doing.

And yes, you can see a LED around the edge of the exit door.

Good info and food for thought. I really do love taking the time to truly enjoy the cleverness of the imagineers, but I do also hate being stuck in the wad of people squeezing slowly into the doom buggy line. So there is only one thing I can do. Ride HM multiple times and try it both ways: Perhaps use the "quick exit" strategy during peak times and then savor the effects late in extra magic hours when perhaps it is less crowded? Thanks again everyone for the info, you guys are awesome!

If you attempt to ride the "full effect" version of the Haunted Mansion, ie, allowing everyone else to saving first so you can hear the creepy whispering at the end, might I recommend leaving HM for one of the last attractions of the night? We've ridden it in the past at 2:50 am or so on those 3am EMH nights when the park was nearly empty... VERY cool and creepy to have a stretching room just to yourself/your group. There's an incredible difference in hearing the Ghost Host talking to a large crowd, and his talking to YOU. Shivers up my spine just thinking about it. :)

EDIT: Just saw your last post. Enjoy!

Speaking of cleverness: being a smart a** on my way to HM I asked a cm if this was the way to HM. He replied "yes sir, dead ahead." I'm glad I asked the question. I got a good chuckle out of it.
