Of course and it give the story line a boost too.

Master Gracey goes to the attic the day of the wedding, to find his bride dead (murdered or suicide). He is so upset he throws her wedding ring out the attic window with such force, it embeds itself into the ground below, never to be removed again. He then hangs himself.
