This might sound dumb, but what is A and B Mode? I'm guessing it has something to do with maintenence??

When there is a technical problem with the Yeti figure, it goes into a B mode, where the scene is largely stationary, and uses strobes to simulate some movement. Basically B mode is a way for Disney to still operate the attraction even when the Yeti figure is not working as intended.

The mist was working on Sept. 23, I'm also glad to hear the missing head effect is working over at the Haunted Mansion. When I was there it wasn't working, and all you saw were the portraits of a bride and a groom with no head

Thanks Lee for the update on HM. I was a bit disappointed that it was in B mode when we were there for the meet. I can't wait to take my girls on it when we go again in Nov!

And it was nice meeting you by the way!

Ok, that's what I was thinking. Thank You. :D

Did you see any sign of the mist effect at the top of Everest? It's been mentioned it may have reappeared? Thanks!

Mist in the caves?
None there on Saturday. I had heard it wasn't likely to return do to the havoc it was causing with sensors. I miss it.
Also no bird at the top, no cold air in the cave, one waterfall and only occasional steam in the station.:brick:

Rule number 1: If you build it...you should maintain it.

I've never understood why these effects would not be working on what is essentially a brand new attraction. Is it just that they don't work the way the designers thought they would or is maintenance really the issue? Seems like a huge waste of $$ to add so many effects to a ride that are never used.

As I understand it, the mist (fine spray of water) in the cave at the top of the lift was causing a problem with sensors. It can likely be fixed by just going with another type of effect to get the same result. I've heard they are looking at something like that.

The steam from the trains is real steam, and the mechanism is fragile...fails a lot. I think they just don't feel like fixing it every time it goes out, they just wait and do it every once in a while. Lazy.

The bird? Maybe they gave up on guests really even noticing it.

Waterfall? No idea why both don't always work. At one time they had issues with excess spray, but I don't think that's still the case.

Yeti? Fragile, but easily fixed. Rarely stays in B mode for long since it is such a major show element. I can't remember it going out and not being fixed ASAP.

The portraits in Mansion weren't "broken". I think they had just never been properly set due to time constraints getting the ride back open.

BWAAHHHHH????? GASP!

THE MIST IS BACK ON?!?!?!?!!!

No way....They shut that off WAYYY back when because they said it was causing some of the tab arms and such around it to rust faster than they thought. I heard that they cut the water line off totally. Was it a watery mist or a new kind of fog? They blew the mist replacement budget some time ago....

This calls for a run to Animal Kingdom tomorrow after MGM.....EpcotServo AWAY!!!

Effect was working last Friday night during MNSSHP

Effect was working last Friday night during MNSSHP:)
Two weeks earlier, the headless husbands left me bewildered, and Tasha kept going on about the axe in the bride's hand disappearing (I missed).
It was so much better seeing the head appear and disappear, although I still didn't see the axe (and obviously didn't make the connection between the two).
Now I can confirm things with Tasha so we will both know what's going on:)

Just an update...

I just got back form WDW and I can 100% confirm that the effect is working. I rode it a total of 5 times and each time it worked. I must say that they have done a great job with the refurb. I mean I have always liked the Haunted Mansion, but now that it has been refurbed, I can not imagine it how it used to be. It is a must see, again & again & again!!

Oh and on the EE thing. I got a good look at the back side of the mountain the other day and it looks like the eagle has been removed.

Does anybody have a spolier of the new, updated version!?

Sad to say I won't be returning to the World for at least a couple of years and I don't think my will power can hold for that long...

Any info appreciated...really want to see the new effects although I'm aware no video can replicate the actual ride experience!!

Also... the eagle was hardly ever in sync with the train cars at the top of the mountain. I can recount so many times that the eagle was in plain view when we stopped at the top and you definitely see it flying backwards. I'm not sure what the point of that effect was, but it was never executed in a consistent manner.

Just got back and I saw the portraits working!
When I first rode it since the reopening with my daughter she stated that when she road it a couple of days earlier that bride had a rose and not an axe. I saw the axe as well along with portraits of the bride and headless husbands. A couple of days later I rode again and saw the portraits with heads on the men that slowly dissapeared and also I saw the bride with the axe. I loved all the effects of the ride! Great rehab!

I rode HM 7 times between 10/6 and 10/12....I felt like a little kid riding for the first time! I was surprised to see the attic portraits working, and the unload CM said she hadn't seen them yet and was glad to hear I liked it.

I, too, didn't put together that when the ax appears is when the heads disappear *slaps forehead.* Constance really did freak me out, though....I keep hearing, "As long as we both shall live" and seeing that flipping ax....*shivers* She really is creepy!!

Bravo to WDI for making a 27-year old girl who has ridden HM hundreds of times feel like she was 5 again, and experiencing HM for the first time :sohappy:
