Haunted Mansion having serious problems 12/6 and 12/8

Yup, when we went to ride HM during MVMCP on 12/11 we had to wait for maybe about 10 minutes at the load area before we could ride due to the doombuggies stopping not once, but twice. We felt like we were close to having to turn around and leave once, but they finally got them started up again after a lot of running around with flashlights.

That same night we got stuck on TTA while inside SM and that time we did end up having to be evacuated and walk the path from inside SM to a stairway that led down to the sidewalk beside SM.

What a wacky night!

i was there that night for the MVMCP and saw TTa getting evaced. HM was also one of our first stops (right around 8 pm or so) we were outside for a few minutes, a bit longer than i'd normally guess and the spiel didn't start until everyone was practically in the foyer. we also stopped right around the HHG scene, but i think it was due to letting on handicaped peoples.

I was there on 12/10 and had just gotten into the doombuggy when we stopped. We sat there for about 5 minutes before we started up only to stop 30 seconds later. We were up and running after a couple minutes and didn't have any other problems during the ride. (had stopped on 12/5 for a couple minutes in front of the hallway as well.)

BTMRR was closed a couple of times while I was there (12/5-12/10).

The night of the grand reopening I rode. I remember hearing that clank noise and thinking "Hmm. Better get that fixed!" No sooner had I thought that then the ride stopped. I was stuck in the cool new hallway for about 20 mns with the lights on, then they finally evacuated us and gave us open fastpasses.
I had already ridden a bunch of times that morning, but nonetheless, it was great to see it that day with the lights on!

I'm more focused on the fact that you got to see the bird on Everest?

I was under the impression (as told by area managers, CMs, and Engineers) that the effect had been permanently turned off?

I rarely have ridden HM in recent years without the ride stopping at least once during the experience. I usually just assume they're stopping it to load handicapped guests.

Ditto

Just slightly off topic, but friends were there 12/2 and said the audio and Madame Leota were out of sync. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes. I keep reading reports here about how great the new Leota is...I thought it was terrible! It was BADLY out of synch each time I rode.

hey, in side HM remember the smell. Its not a bad smell it was like an old musty greasy smell. I went in 2006 and the smell brought back memories of being there when i was young. I went in OCT. 2007 right after it opened back up and the smell was gone:shrug: I mean it was there but very faint and only in some araes of the ride....I always thought that the smell was piped in I really missed it. That smell, for me, really made the ride it brough back many memories of being there with my family :). Well I'm going back in 2009 hope that it returns......Does anyone know the smell I am talking about????

I have read about that smell before. It seems as though when I was reading a thread on the redo that the smell was on accident, water constantly leaked into the carpet area in the mansion and what you were smelling was actually real mildew and mold, when they closed it down for the renovations they fixed the leaky baseboards and replaced the carpet, so in short, the smell will not be returning. . . .

I have always thought it would be really cool to see HM with the lights on.
The only thing I can remember being evaced off was Jurassic Park at Universal. We got stuck right under the shaking cage, right before the hill (thanks goodness)

Is it me or are we all forgetting that the chances of riding any omnimover attraction without having to stop at least once is rare to never especially during busy times?? Having to be walked off is one thing but saying it stopped more than once for less than 2 minutes isn't anything to complain about chances are its just a disabled person, well one of the said to be disabled persons since we all know more than half lie because they are to lazy to actually stand for a day.

Just a quick update. The Haunted Mansion was having some serious issues with the doombuggies. We rode twice on 12/06, the first time was perfect, saw the great upgrades (especially the bride) and the rest of my family finally got to experience what I have been bragging about all these years. The second time we rode, the doombuggies stopped while we were in the Madame Leota scene. We were stuck there for probably 10-15 minutes before finally, the lights came on and cast members showed up to release us from the doombuggies. I must say it was really cool walking out lights on. Everything else was working, except the doombuggies. I tried to shoot some video as we were walking out, I don't know how good it is yet but if it's anything worthwhile I will try to share it.
So we go back to MK on 12/08 and rode it three more times. The first two rides the doombuggies stopped again for a few minutes then finally began moving again. Then finally the last ride was a full ride thru without interruption. Has anyone else recently experienced these problems? Perhaps they only updated the effects and not the transport system.

Also, when we were at Epcot on 12/7 the moving theater in Ellen's Energy Adventure crapped out on us in the dinosaur scene and we had to be escorted out of that attraction as well.

Expedition Everest: no steam at load, no mist, bird was working 2 out of 4 rides, 1 waterfall working but Yeti was in glorious A mode.

These experiences did not ruin our trip in any way. Hey, Things happen, and we love the World.

I'm not sure if someone else mentioned this..but ellen's ride may stop if its really cloudy or rainy because during the day it uses solar power to move the attraction, next time look at the roof you can see the panels :) Because last time I was on it we were half way through the preshow and the audio and video cut off and the annoucer said The Univs. of Energy...is out of Energy:lookaroun when we left it was pouring crazy outside! Theres florida weather for ya! But we soon realized about the solar panels. Was it raining when you left?

The ride stopping for a few minutes here and there is not generally a mechanical issue. If a guest needs help loading into a doombuggy they often have to stop the chain to help them load. Since it is an omnimover system that requires that the entire ride stop for that to take place. Its not uncommon for the ride to have to stop for that quite often. In fact I've only once ridden where the entire ride system didn't have to stop at least once.

I always had a problem with the doom buggies on HM after the refurb. Every minute it made a random click noise and scared the daylights out of me!!

And please, do post that video! :D

I saw it working for the first time 11/16, I was sitting in the front seat and noticed it come out as we were going backwards, that was also a month ago though.

I'm surprised too. I was with my 17 year old son and as I said on our first two rides on 12/05 the bird was working both times, but not on 12/10. I'd rather the steam and mist effects be working properly.

No it was sunny. One of the Technicians that came to the rescue said that one of the computers on the first car malfunctioned and the whole ride needed to be reset.

Please everyone, this was not a complaint. The Haunted Mansion is my favorite attraction of all time. This was the first time I've been able to ride it in 23 years, and back the last time I rode it in the 80's I just don't remember it stopping so much. I understand now that the short stops were for the loading of handicapped guests, and thats perfectly understandable. As for the evac. It was one of the greatest memories of my life. I got to see how the Leota effects work, the new staircase scene with lights on, the floating candle. All the effects were working while we walked out. Priceless!
