There were no backstories. A lot of what people say about the Bride’s alleged backstory seems to come from Phantom Manor.

Prior to Constance there was no official backstory. It could be inferred in the original scene with the Hatbox Ghost that she be-headed him. Once he was removed the scene lacked any real context until 2006. BTW, those are the DL Brides. Here are the WDW ones.
