Please don't take this the wrong way...I'm not trying to be snarky. I really mean this not as an attack, but a sincere question:
How in the world can you defend so hard when you haven't even been in 2 years??? I have been...I don't know any more....26-28 times in the past 2 years. Why are you all about defending against the negatives when you haven't even been there to see for yourself if they are true or not? I'm not saying you aren't correct in your views, but they are 2 years old. Things have changed so much in that time.
If you have done 26-28 Disney trips in a 24 month period, then I completely understand why you’re not so keen to visit right now. There are so many other places to go! I think a lot of people don’t realize that so much of one thing can cause you to want more...but maybe you’re looking in the wrong place for it.
I have not been since Thanksgiving week 2017.. but, I have an extremely Disney-going family and close circle of friends. They’ve all still gone in that time frame, all had a fabulous time. My sister is the least “Disney” of the bunch, and even she decided to go back this year when my parents take the grandkids.
Prior to my 2016 trip, I read negative after negative about how Disney has changed for the worse.. I kept thinking “is this really possible in a 1 year time span?” Guess what? It was wonderful. You wouldn’t know that from threads on this site... but none of the Magic was lost for me and my child.
We did several “extras” that trip, loved them all. I’m not the type of person who needs to squeeze every penny of “perceived value” out of the parks though. We went to MK one day and left by the afternoon (same day as our EMM tickets).. hung out at the resort the rest of the day, another day we just went to MVMCP, did activities like renting a boat during the afternoon, and a pirate cruise for kiddo in the morning.. and another time we went to MK for EMH, no extra money required (we may have done that twice that trip).
On our first full day at WDW I rented a cabana at the pool and watched the Ohio State v Michigan game.. eating, drinking cocktails, laughing, watching my kid come in and out of the pool. One of my best Disney days ever, and it was while watching a football game. After the game we changed, went monorail hopping, stopping to eat, drink, and buy some Christmas themed goodies. Ended the day by watching the EWP and fireworks in our pjs.
That’s the last time that we’ll probably ever do 9 nights or more at WDW. My kid is older now and more into adrenaline activities and seeing new places/new experiences.. still loves WDW, but for us a 10 day trip no longer fits well into our lives and preferences. That’s ok.
Disney sets the stage, we create our own magic.
It’s also ok to enjoy other destinations besides Disney World.
I think too many people don’t realize these 2 important facts.
