Has anyone run the Disney Marathon?

Has anyone ever run in the Disney Marathon or any Disney races in the parks? I'm running in the Half in January, and I'm trying to find out if Disney has any rules about ipods or a dress code. Most races don't permit ipods or mp3 players, but there's never any follow-thru on that rule. But I was wondering about the dress code. I know Disney is particular about what people wear in the parks. I usually run in shorts and a running bra, I was hoping that that would be permitted?

My sister has. I'll see her tonight (she's in town for the next few days), so if you PM me, I'll ask her about her experience.

I have run the full, and the ToT 13k. Do they say no iPods? I do believe so. Most big races do, as it is a liability issue. That said, you still see plenty of them out there. Each year people think that this is going to the be the year they will crack down, but I can't honestly see them doing that w/o advance warning. Should you? I ran the full with 1 earphone in, so I could still hear anything important, but I know that people at the last ToT had their music so loud I could hear it running next to them. Not safe at all. If you start training without it, you won't miss it.
Regarding a dress code, I know there have been people wearing similar clothes to run in. In fact, at the first ToT, they had someone dress up as a gladiator, wearing the helmet, a cape, shinguards, and a Speedo. Nothing else. They got them on the jumbotron, and the gladiator vowed to run the marathon in the same getup. Then come January, who woulda guessed it, I saw the gladiator running again, in the same getup. So as long as you are decent, you should be ok. Check out the past pictures at asiorders.com if you want to see how others dressed.

I was one of those with the earphones. That is a rule meant to be broken. Don't worry unless you think you are going to win the marathon.

The sports bra shouldn't be an issue either. You know it can be sort of cold in mid-January, right? :animwink: There was a guy wearing little more than a thong in the half marathon last year and they let him run without interfering. There were plenty of women running in sports bras.

If you want to check out what people wore, you could go to this website and review race photos, but that might also be time consuming: http://www.asiorders.com/view_event.asp?EVENTID=40036

just start with lost and found photos -

The Marathon weekend rocks! You will have a blast! The metals are the best around...HUGE! You will be fine running in the running bra and shorts. Alot of runner dress up too. I dress like Goofy.I am running my 4th Goofy Challenge 39.3 miles. For guys you are supposed to wear a tank or shirt...when running thur the Magic Kingdom as they have a "no nipple policy". Have fun and see you in Jan! GOofy Jeffrey:wave:

I saw the Gladiator at both races too. He's a nice guy!

That's why God invented knee socks....they're perfect to wear on your arms until you get hot enough to toss them off

Thanks! I'm so psyched! This will be my 5th 1/2 marathon, but my first Disney. All the people I'm going with are more obsessed with taking pictures with the characters than the race. I'm one of those crazy runners who is actually going to be trying for time :animwink:

My dad has run it - he is a marathon runner. I somehow didn't get that gene. I did basically spend my childhood at marathon finish lines in various cities though. That's awesome that you've run 5 1/2 miles, congrats! That's a huge accomplishment. The medals at the Disney marathon are the best! And they take your picture as you come through the castle entrance. I always thought that was neat. :)

Good luck - hope you do well!
