Has anyone ever written to Disney to compliment a CM?

Last year after our week at WDW I wrote letters to Michael Eisner, Paul Pressler and Al Weiss (got their addys from the Unofficial Guide) to thank them for the discount military tickets, and also to commend two CMs (mentioned by name) who made our trip especially magical.

About a week after I sent my letter I got a call from someone at WDW thanking me for my letter and telling me the CMs I'd commented about would be recognized for their customer service. Unfortunately I was out when she called so all I have is a message on my machine - but oh what a thrill to have WDW call me!

We hear a lot of complaints about CMs and I'm sure people are quick to write complaint letters, but I'm curious if anyone else here has written a commendation letter and if you got any response to it.

Also, if you are or have been a CM - what kind of recognition do you think those two people might have gotten? They both went WAY above and beyond even our high Disney expectations.

Yes. And I suppose it's okay to mention their names here? Gene, an artist at Art of Disney at DTD and Carol, our server at LTT.

Do you still have the addresses, I like to sent a letter off

I always take time to commend people on good service at the parks! We all know that WDW is one of the last places that you can really get good customer service, so if I am treated well, I hope the CM's are rewarded! I also send word of bad service as well...

I usually email WDW... I do this often. Personally, it's a pleasure to commend a CM for their help.

I have no clue what happens to the CM's, but as long as they know they're appreciated then I'm a happy visitor!

I also wrote a letter describing a wonderful server we had at Le Cellier (Tim D., if anyone remembers him) I stopped off on the way out that night and asked for the address at the front entrance of the park, and the CM gave me a business card with this address: Walt Disney World, Guest Communications, P.O. Box 10040, Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-0040 or email wdw.guest.communications@disney.com I also received a nice call on my home answering maching thanking me for the nice letter and she also sai that she would share our good experience with his supervisor at Le Cellier. :slurp:

If we are truly, TRULY fans of WDW we would take the time to write to WDW about our good experiences and make it a point to show them that this should not be cause for resting on one's laurels, but rather to make sure we (Disney) continue to provide the magic. Psychology shows us that positive reinforcement is much more effective that negative feedback.

I sent an email to the feedback form on the official website, but got no response. Would still do it in an instant though. Always nice to compliment a job well done.

Oh yes. Send a letter to the Yacht and Beach Club after Sam at Yachtsman Steakhouse made our dinning experience simply magical. Never got a call or anything about it, but hope he got some recognition for it.

Yup. . . and always remember the Cast Member's name! A great guy (Rick) at the Crow's Nest gave us such a small, but wonderfull, experience that I commended. :)

I also contacted guest services via email on the Disney.com website and got a personal phone call at home so that I can further explain the situation. I wanted to commend a couple of cast members who were really great to us, but I also wanted to share the fact that there was a cast member who completely snapped at me because he was involved with a cast member in a personal, unrelated conversation and I interrupted them. I got one of those "like I said.." answers because I wanted him to clarify what he had told me. It appeared that he absolutely hated his job dealing with the public and had no reason to even be anywhere he had to communicate with the guests. I do think you should "say it when you see it" in relation to the good and bad cast members and not limit it only to complaining, though.

Whilst enjoying a couple of weeks at Disney World April/May this year I made up a list where on most days I came across one CM who had that extra special spark. See My Tip Report to find out who there great people were.

I have chased a couple of times and been given a generic reassurance that word will reach the CMs – “Please be assured that your comments have been taken seriously and all of the Cast Members you mentioned will be recognized for their outstanding service.”

So, if there are any CMs on here who know those that I mentioned in my report, can you speak to them and see if word has got back to them? Thanks in advance.

I have to be treated like absolute s**t before I'll complain. I always try to see the "other guy's" perspective. You never know why some people do somethings, received bad news, broke up with significant other, just a bad day etc. I will always compliment/encourage/commend good behaviour. I have written WDW to commend a special CM on a couple occasions. Never heard back, that would have been cool. In my letter I mention the CM's name, where it happened, the approximate date and time of the occurrence and a detailed explanation of what that person did to make it magical. I'm glad to know that the CM's are informed when they get a letter written about them.

I have.... quite a few times.... After one trip... I wrote a nice letter to WDW about the GREAT service I had recived at the Kona Cafe (that really made my trip).

Another time I wrote another letter about the Great CM I had as a tour guide on the Undiscovered Future World tour....

And another time... was about the great staff/actors at the Adventurers Club.

I guess I am quite the letter writer.

We just returned from the best trip to WDW we have ever had!!! I also have a list of names of cm's that I am including in a letter I will be writing! Thanks for the address, this was the perfect thread! I will be writing a trip report soon. I told myself before I left for my 9 day trip that I would compliment every cm I could during my trip, not knowing the magic that was to happen when we arrived! Just in short, I Lost my wallet on the plane, with all my money, credit cards, and drivers license. Nightmare to say the least! The people at POR were wonderful!!! This was not WDW's fault, but everyone bent over backwards to help us!! They even upgraded our room to a water view, the gentleman at bell services offered to buy us dinner and money! They all helped to see that we were taken care of!! This was more than I ever expected!!! I will explain more in my trip report!! The rest of the trip was just magical!! I did get back everything I lost from northwest airlines, Thank God!! More magic!!! Everything from there on out was perfect!!!!

For just a few minutes time...

There have been trips where really nice things have happend and I intended to write later, but usually forget the name to report. I feel I have shorted those CM's by forgetting, so I make it a point to write names down when some special interaction occurs.

Must be my Catholic upbringing, but I still feel guilty for forgetting the name of a wonderful bus driver from about 10 years ago who could do an unbelievable Micky as well as some other characters perfectly. We were the only ones on the bus returning from AK and he, I mean Micky, made an announcement over the speaker...my kids eyes got big, they were looking around, and remained mesmirized the rest of the trip. He had told us of previous events where he was asked to give birthday wake ups and once, to call a sick child at home to tell him he was being thought of. I sure hope he has gotten a chance to get into annoucing or voicing...

While the mail or Email connection mentioned earlier is a great way to send in your information, if you've had a particularly nice interaction, stop by guest services on your way out of the park and fill out a form (yes, real paper). Short of telling the CM face to face what their effort meant to you, I really feel that this is a small thank you back to them.

There is also a program, I believe strongest at DL called WWWD (what would Walt do) http://whatwouldwaltdo.com that is a private movement to recognize superior CM's. Check it out, it's a nice read.
